Prayer Principle 2A:3B Reproduction Mr. C. Pat Lanyon

Review: An Overview of the section : ‘Thy Kingdom Come’ (Anticipation)

From the Prayer Notebook: "I pray that ..."

MT 18.2,3; EZ 33.11; 2 PE 3.9; 1 TH 5.9

1B. SALVATION -- Your rule and reign might come into the lives of each one who does not know You.

LK 10.2

2B. EVANGELIZATION -- You would send more laborers to reach them.

MT 28.19; 2 TI 2.2

Today we now consider the Third subsection of praying for God’s Kingdom to come.

3B. REPRODUCTION by Discipleship -- You would guide me to one or more to disciple for Your kingdom.

MT 28.19-20; 2 TI 2.2

Significant Scripture passages:

1. Matthew 28: 19-20 "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,

20 "teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.

2. 2 Tim. 2:2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

It is God’s will that after people are born into His kingdom that they should learn what it means to become children of the King. This means

Going out into the world and witnessing to others the gospel, or good news of the Kingdom, and thus seeing others born into His Kingdom.

Baptizing them in the Name of the Triune God: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, or publically proclaiming that they are now Sons of God. [This means that if you have become a child of God, you first should submit yourself to baptism in the way the Bible describes it: by immersion: JESUS submitted Himself as the first example: Mark 1:9-10 And it came to pass in those days, that Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee, and was baptized of John in Jordan. 10 And straightway coming up out of the water, he saw the heavens opened, and the Spirit like a dove descending upon him: Acts 8:36-39 And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized? 37 And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. 38 And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him. 39 And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.]

Once we have obeyed the Lord in Baptism, we must witness and find those who have believed in Him and instruct them in the same teachings of Christ as we have received from the Bible: 2 Tim 2:2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

This means, as in our context of a notebook for praying, that we should record here where and when we obeyed God’s command to be baptized by immersion. Next, we can record those we may have seen become believers so that we can then pray for them and begin to teach them how to grow in their new-born Christian life. You will find the Lord will give you fruit from your life that will begin to reproduce after yourself. Not only does this bring blessing into your life, but it also brings blessing into the lives of others since they receive the joy of a new life in Christ.

This means we need to become well-versed in the Christian way of life: 1Pe 3:15 But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear: This will involve first your own heart’s sanctification as Peter here implies. God enables all of this to take place with His supernatural power. You are the one who chooses how quickly this takes place. When you are quickly obedient, He is quick to bless your life with a harvest of souls you can disciple.

Applications:

  1. Date the day you were baptized in your Prayer Notebook, and rejoice that you have obeyed Him in this matter.
  2. Write down the people you have witnessed to, and those you have a burden to pray for their salvation.
  3. The ones that believe after you have witnessed to are significant to you – you have been promoted in their eyes as ‘an example of the believers,’ and you should try to begin a discipleship arrangement with them.
  4. Pray for others who are doing this, and incorporate your self into a group of people who meet together to worship God in the same way. This is called the local church, and God’s blessing will remain on your life only if you seek to do this with your whole heart as much as you are able to do it. It is where baptism of the believing disciples can take place as well.
