First Report

Hi to our Praying Team,

Thursday, January 14

We arrived safely from Atlanta at about 3:30pm -- 2 hours late, but happy:

As we began to take off, our swift-thinking pilot aborted the take-off only a minute inside due to a low oil pressure gauge reading on the right engine.

With this minor wait, none complained. All were undoubtedly grateful for the minor delay for what might have been an in-flight disaster. The second plane was identical, but performed flawlessly.

We were greeted at the airport after only about a half an hour by Mrs. Martha Rigby Harris, the Administrator of Provo Christian School, the oldest private school on the island having begun in 1982. She made at least 3 or 4 trips to the airport because of the delay and luggage we brought.

After getting somewhat settled, I went out and used my minilaptop to get some pictures and later edited the pictures with inside captions. The photographs are fuzzy and of low resolution, but I hope to provide full digital pictures later. Until then please watch and come back for a visit.

Friday Jan 15

Friday we organized and set up projects including computers, and washing machine investigation, visited various classrooms in the morning, showed dvds to early-released school students, and prepared for a specially arranged Friday Evening Youth meeting. I spoke on Ecclesiastes 12.1 on The Scripture's View of Youth. Then we showed the dvd "The Story of Eric Liddell, from Torchlighters.org. David wanted to do some One Word Bible Story Team Telling as he experienced in TBC youth. Since the youth had not met like this for about 2 years, they wished to stay a bit longer, so we showed a video of New Tribes Mission for a Venezuelan Indian tribe for 7 minutes and closing comments. My application was to challenge the young people to pick a time to offer a "Here I Am" prayer on an altar of sacrifice within 1 week. Believing in God's power to forgive, transform and reward faithfulness will help these folk experience a new level of Christian Life. They will appreciate your prayers too.

Next entry in a day or two. :D
