Cleaning has been a life-long pleasure for me, yet unrealized until I moved to Connecticut in 1983.

Glory Cleaning Service began in November 1986.

It was a tumultuous week of events:

After a frustrating few months of unemployment struggling with knowing what I really am most fitted to do as a vocation, I had found a job working at a company a friend in the church I attended worked. (I came originally to CT to assist another man I met in school plant a church in the East Hartford vicinity.)

At the same time I had was working part time for a man who owned a janitorial service and attended another Baptist Church in West Hartford. He later taught me I could run my own business, and he helped me get started by selling me half-priced equipment. I was cleaning an apartment common area for him for roughly $10/ hour. I was beginning to see that I could run a business on my own, but was much too frightened to start right away. Early in the week I had registered my business with the East Hartford Town Clerk.

On Wednesday night that week, I announced that I had found a job in Windsor, and that I believe God wanted me to start "Glory Cleaning Service." I named it after 1 Corinthians 10:31, an admonition we find in the Bible that says we ought to "do all to the glory of God."

The next day (I believe) on the return trip from my second day of work at Combustion Engineering as a 'job-shop' worker, I was involved in a head-on car crash on an icy road in Windsor. After a brief time in the Emergency Room and 24 stitches I was brought back home okay but with a non-bandaged facial cut, and a sore, bruised body.

I could now call in sick to work and skip the 3rd day of work on a new job, but I thought that might not show too well. Instead, I called my pastor to see what he would do in such circumstances. He advised me to GO TO WORK THE NEXT DAY. I had no excuse-- I was out of the hospital, was able to work (even though a bit embarrassing with a bloody face since I retrieved drawings for some 30 draftsmen!), and even had a ride since another man at our church was employed in the same building.

I went, and stayed at that job for about 9 humiliating months, but glad to have steady work again. Eventually, the company hired me has a regular employee and I received medical benefits I had not previously known.

Later that month, I developed my office cleaning sheet, almost identical to the one here. I passed it out in Windsor, and a few places in East Hartford and South Windsor. To my surprise, out of about 25 sheets, I got about 8 or 10 call backs resulting in about 3 new accounts within 3 months. On Thursdays, and weekends I began doing office cleaning.

After a part-time office cleaning for an initial 11 month period, I decided to try full time commitment in October, 1987. That first full time day the stock market crashed! But I went determined not to quit, and in 8 weeks I was able to sign on 8 new accounts, and had an average 8 hours per evening of work. I then stopped canvassing and began servicing those accounts the best way I knew how then.

Maintaining acceptable service has since meant several momentous events, and the investment each has required:

We advertise two themes: 1) Extraction Excellence and 2) We Love to Clean, Let Us Show You.

These themes arise out of my purpose to abide by principles found in the Bible:

1) Philippians 1:10 That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ;

and 2)Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

I believe that abiding by eternal principles found in this Book of all Books will result in riches and rewards beyond imagination and eternal in quality.

Anyone further interested in a relationship with God as given in the Bible is welcome to read my tract written in 1996: A Simple Bible Study on Believing, written in first person as my testimony of salvation in the summer of 1972. It is my personal desire that anyone who comes to know me personally also come to personally know Jesus Christ as personal Savior.

Another related work I have written includes: A Daily Prayer Notebook, which is basically a guide to praying in the manner suggested in the Bible, also a journal for life stewardship.

I would also strongly encourage anyone with doubts about the value of living life based on the Bible to read an article I have edited, written by my Pastor, Bim Rowley, Is the Bible Reliable?
