C. God exercises mercy, and the blessing of His face shining on us for a
reason: He wants His way to be made known on earth. We know this is
true from the prayer model he has given us: Your Kingdom Come, Your Will
be Done (Matt. 6: 10-11) Before this can happen as a life principle, it
must happen as an event of life (2 Cor. 6:2) where we receive the gift of
God which is eternal life. (Romans 6:23) the phrase concluding verse 2
is really saying God wants to save the whole world, all nations.

II. The Amazing Benefits of God’s Mercy are Incomparable! Vv. 3-7
A. The people will give praise to God. Vv. 3,5. Compare Luke 18:35-43 The
Blind beggar healed in Jericho.
B. The people will express gladness and sing songs of joy because God
judges and governs them righteously. V. 4 Compare Ex 15!
C. The land will produce bountifully. V. 6a
III. God will become personal to us, and all of earth will fear Him! V.
6b, 7
My Prayer for America
4 ¶ And I prayed to the LORD my God, and made confession, and said, "O Lord,
great and awesome God, who keeps His covenant and mercy with those who love Him,
and with those who keep His commandments, 5 "we Americans, as a Nation,
have sinned and committed iniquity, we have done wickedly and rebelled, even by
departing from Your precepts and Your judgments.
6 "Neither have we heeded Your servants the prophets, as well as Your
Pastors and anointed servants of the Living God, who spoke in Your name to
our kings and our princes, to our fathers and all the people of the land.
7 "O Lord, righteousness belongs to You, but to us shame of face, as it is
this day—
to the men of every state in America, as with Judah, to the
inhabitants of every city in America, as with Israel,
those near and those far off in all the countries to which You may have
separated Americans including those in our Military, because of the
unfaithfulness which they have committed against You.
8 "O Lord, to us belongs shame of face, to our kings, our princes, and our
fathers, because we have sinned against You.
We have united with those who are actually our enemies through our Secret
Service and Central Intelligence Agency and other government agencies. We
have allowed unjust men to become our leaders; we have allowed great
atrocities to be committed in our land and in other countries we have
violated sovereignties not our own, and we have allowed noble men to be
assassinated and destroyed for unjust gains. And many other sins are we
guilty of as a nation We have failed to meditate on Your Word Day and Night.
We have forsaken the assembling together regularly and have strayed from
Your precepts.
9 "To the Lord our God belong mercy and forgiveness, though we have rebelled
against Him. 10 "We have not obeyed the voice of the LORD our God, to walk in
His laws, which He set before us by His servants the prophets.
11 "Yes, all America, as Israel, has transgressed Your law, and has
departed so as not to obey Your voice; therefore the curse and the oath written
in the Law of Moses the servant of God to Israel has been poured out on
us Americans, because we have sinned against Him.
12 "And He has confirmed His words, which He spoke against us and against our
judges who judged us, by bringing upon us great disasters like great storms
destroying houses and many other properties, fires burning our lands, drought
destroying our crops, diseases and plagues which we have not known; for we are fearful that
under the whole heaven such has never been done as what
has been done to Jerusalem could very well happen to our lands as it did to
Jerusalem and all the nation of Israel.
13 "As it is written in the Law of Moses, we fear even greater disasters
such as all this disaster [in Jerusalem that] has come upon the nation of
Israel; yet we have not made our prayer [as a nation] before the LORD
our God, that we might turn from our iniquities and understand Your truth.
14 "Therefore the LORD will have to judge us just as He has kept the
disaster in mind [for Jerusalem and all Israel], and brought it upon us; for the
LORD our God is righteous in all the works which He does, though we have not
obeyed His voice.
15 "And now, O Lord our God, who brought out Forefathers out of Europe to
the great land of America, just as for Israel Your people out of the land of
Egypt with a mighty hand, and made Yourself a name, as it is this day—we have
sinned, we have done wickedly!
16 "O Lord, according to all Your righteousness, I pray, let Your anger and
Your fury be turned away from Your city, Washington DC, and our whole nation, America, as with Your city Jerusalem, Your holy mountain; because
for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Washington D.C., as with
Jerusalem and Your people are a reproach to all those around us.
17 "Now therefore, our God, hear the prayer of Your servant, and his
supplications, and for the Lord’s sake cause Your face to shine on Your
sanctuary, which is headed for desolation. 18 "O my God, incline Your ear
and hear; open Your eyes and see our desolations, and the nation which is
called Christian, as by Your name; for we do not present our
supplications before You because of our righteous deeds, but because of Your
great mercies.
19 "O Lord, hear! O Lord, forgive! O Lord, listen and act! Do not delay for
Your own sake, my God, for Your nation, and Your people are called by
Your name."
