Her Memorial
Top Left: Joseph and Christine in 2022 at their January birthday celebration Restaurant Dinner
Joseph's birthday is the day after hers, on the 21st. We usually celebrated from gift cards for the restaurant provided by Andreas and Teresa Meyer or other close TBC friends!
Middle Left:
In room 2214 on Saturday, October 14, at
UConn Health Hospital, having already had a number of visitors, here is Kathryn and Jayne Burchard (far
left and close left) and Mrs. Cora Sciarra (right) as they visit Chris. We were awaiting the scheduling of her surgery in the intermediate floor before Wednesday
October 18, the day they could unite 2 senior Neurosurgeons for her surgery. Her smile was typical all throughout the relaxed presurgery days.
Those days would have been much different had we known the surgery outcome, albeit God Himself encouraged us-driving out worries with His supernatural presence!
Bottom Left: About 1958, This is one of the few pictures of
Chris with Cecil, her father, beside her with "Vicki" the youngest of her two
sisters. Since Cecil passed away about 1986 of Cancer, yours truly never met or
knew him personally.
Center Newsprint Text:
THREE SENIORS TO BE GIVEN STATE HOMEMAKER DEGREE.
Three Attica senior (High School) girls, pictured here, Shirley Cook, Barbara
Scherley, and Christine Wise, will be awarded the State Homemaker
Degree. This is the highest degree obtainable in the Future Homemakers of
America organization. They were interviewed by FHA advisers Wednesday, March 1,
at Lakota High School and will receive their degrees at the Ohio FHA convention
in Columbus on April 7.
To receive the degree, the FHA member must obtain a 2.5 accumulative
average in school with no lower than a B average in home economics. To
be considered for the degree, the candidate is to complete a booklet containing
her past Junior and Chapter Homemaker degrees and her evaluation of
the activities used for the degree. The member must show activities in which she
gained a better understanding of FHA on a state level and must
prove leadership
and growth in two to four activities in each of the following areas:
1. Individual; 2. School; 3. Community; 4. Home; 5. FHA Chapter; 6. Explaining
FHA to Others All activities used for the degree are followed by a written
recommendation by the person in charge of that activity. The booklet is
concluded by a listing of how the candidate fulfilled the eight purposes of the
National FHA organization through her degree work.
Shirley is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donal Cook; Barbara, the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Urban Scherley; and Christine, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil
Wise.
Top Right: The passport Christine used for her Bahamian Mission field.
Chris taught for 12 years at Nasseau Christian Academy, in the Bahamas.
Bottom Right: The Four "Wise Women":
Chris, with her typical broad smile at picture top is flanked on the left by
Vicki and on the right by, "Maryanne", with Mary Wise, her mother on the bottom.
It was likely taken in the mid-1980s as Chris is wearing the same dress she
appears on her Providentiales missionary card prepared for her move there in
May. 1985.
