Box 2328; Mansfield, OH 44905 Phone-419-564-2846 Mission Address: Dexia 4 #51 Les Cayes Haiti 509-463-01641 Dear Friends: 4 Month Report 2014 Oct 1 I came to Haiti with a vision to live among the people, by means of my small social security income, to go from house to house sharing the gospel "bon nouve'l" with the result that God would be glorified in Haiti. I am thankful for a place to stay with Haitian Pastor Jean Francois Alcena and family 3 months and Haitian Pastor Jean Wilfrid Prince and family 1 month and provision of translator and transportation through Pastor Prince. Pastor Prince is a strong dedicated pastor who has built up his ministry area with a lot of sacrifice and very little resources. Also with a call to evangelism, God has blessed us as a ministry team. The Lord has also blessed us with a visitation team that includes three young people. One named Marco Voltaire also speaks English , translates for me and interprets church services for me. We saw 59 decisions for Christ in July, 94 in August and 50 in September. We are part of GVDT (Groupe Les Visionaires Du Dernier Temps or Group of the dreamers of the last time, an organization of pastors and missionaries promoting evangelism. We have set up a circuit of visitation to communities of the churches represented as follows: 1. Tuesday: Pastor Lruis Jean Quenolt - Va Chon lower mountain church community 2. Wednesday: Pastor Marcson Aubourg - Berlelte - higher mountain church community 3. Thursday: Pastor Alcena - Torbeck church community 4. Friday: Pastor Prince - Houck and surrounding Rural church community 5. Saturday: Pastor Ore Ius Clermilus and Wesleyan Church - Torbeck community Also GVDT has had training conferences and sent out evangelism teams. 6. Sister Maggie Mountain Mission Duclair 7. Jagarea 8. ile avache. After 3 months of being involved here, I felt led of the Lord to join the church in which Pastor Prince pastors - Assemblee les rachetee de Jesus Christ de Houck/Torbeck (Assembly of the Redeemed of Jesus Christ of Houck/Torbeck) which ministers to small communities 2-10 miles from the main road. A voodoo community is nearby. We have led 14 of them to the Lord. This week we saw victory with a woman who was ill and said she would come to Christ after she saw voodoo doctor. I said, "God is greater. Come to God and receive Christ and then we will pray for you concerning the illness." She received Christ and was relieved from her illness. In October, there will be a building program to finish structure of the church building which also serves as a hospital for hurting people. We have recently seen a young man named Johnney and a young lady named Jenna delivered from demons that would not allow them to eat. They now live for the Lord and are part of our visitation team. We are praying for funds to help them go back to school. This is one of the churches that Bethel Baptist Church, Savannah, OH, Haiti Mission Team put a roof on. I am excited to share my resources in this community through this local church. As we visit people we hear of needs: 1. Request for Bibles (12 Haitian Creole Bibles I brought here have been distributed.) 2. Request for clothes to wear to church 3. Request for money/food 4. Request for help to send children to school 5. Request to fix thatched roofs as it rains hard every 2-3 days We try to meet the most serious needs. Other Prayer Requests * I am facing obstacles as I am trying to get a permit to stay in Haiti after 3 months. * Also please pray for Lundi Pedor a 25 year old young man who was shot in Port au Prince leaving him paralyzed. He lives in the mountains. We pray for him and want to get him to a doctor. He has not seen a doctor for 2 year[s] since he was injured. As we share what God gives us to help others, we hope to encourage them to help others also. As each one helps one, we pray that this area will be a light that shines around the world. Please pray for us,. Mary and Haitian Team for Christ Mary Davis /s/ edit:cpl =====2015 MaryDavis in Haiti 2015 txt translated reports --- ----------- date report 1/25 hi deb I pray all is well. But God is good - 35 decisions for Christ in October; 34 so far this first week of November. I am dedicating this month of my birthday to the sharing of the gospel. To the Praise of God and For His Glory. The Lord blessed with opportunity to go in different directions and I praise Him for safety and protection and blessing with people accepting Christ as their savior. Please pray for Pastor Prince to receive passport and visa for him to come to America Dec 15. In Sept we paid for expedited passport and don't have it. Pres Martelly corruption in election and protests may be holding it up. Also many children being sent home from school for lack of funds. I thank you for your consideration of these requests. For further questions my contact is my daughter Deb 419-564-2846 or myself 001-509-4872-9701 and this email. To God be the glory Mary Davis 12/30 Please pray for Pastor Prince, soul winning partner in Haiti, to receive passport and visa so he can come to America to preach and share his vision for Haiti according to will of God. As we lead people to the Lord and encourage them to find a church to worship their God and Savior, learn more about living for Him including following Him in baptism, and fellowshipping with the sisters and brothers in the family of God, we see the needs of pastors and churches without sources of income. We can help the church to be strong in Haiti with discipleship, training and supervised financial help to build/finish their churches and support for pastors where needed. Would you pray about helping the church in Haiti $1.00 per person per month? 100% of contribution goes to churches and we will send progress reports. Also please pray for children in Haiti to be able to go to school as children are being sent home for lack of funds $150 per child per year. I thank you for your consideration of these requests. Every Wednesday we visit with pastors of fledgling church called Fountain of Life. They started with 20 persons - 15 children and 5 adults. Ohio April 2014, I have been in Haiti for nearly 2 years with trips back to visit family every June and Christmas and will be back home this June. In Haiti, I have served God as an evangelist with Haitian pastor translator , Pastor Prince Jean Wilfrid sharing the Bon Nouvel house to house, hut to hut and in schools. God has so blessed us with over 400 decisions for Christ in 2014 and 400 in 2015. We speak in churches to encourage them in evangelism. It has been said that evangelism is one beggar telling another beggar where he found bread. Upon request we accompany the pastor to reach his community for Christ, to plant or build his church. We are presently doing this for church plants in Chantel and Ducis. We praise the Lord as we see the people who have made decisions with us attending church. In Chantel they were willing to sit on the ground until we provided them with pews. As we go we see the struggles of pastors and churches in Haiti and want to help them. We are also contributing to the start of a church in Bomand near Jeremie where there are no other churches in their area. The people are so excited with the start of the church there. When the church is finished they want to build a school for their children. With a US contribution of $320US we were able to contribute to the funeral cost of the pastors son in Bomand as well as to provide paint and cement for 3 other church restoration projects. Praise the Lord. Web: http://www.aprayernotebook.net/each1helps1/album/ With the theme of Haitians Helping Haitians, I am contacting US Haitian churches to help the Church in Haiti. Please pray with me that God would bless His people in Haiti as they look to Him with all their heart. To God be the Glory, Mary and Haitian Team Sent from Windows Mail 2/27 15 decisions for Christ. A pastor friend gave a church he founded to me in mountain [community] to "mother"[--probably to assist him in spiritual ministry.] =====March 3/5 Dear Friends and Family, Last Saturday, Pastor Prince preached a fiery message, I cant stop thanking Him which was broadcast on Radio Lumiere. On Sunday, a young mother abandoned a baby under a tree nearby and we have been caring for her this week; we call her Rose. Also the church here has cooperated together to raise money and paint the church as a church family project. And yes, Pastor Prince and I do praise the Lord for decisions for Christ in 2016: January: 23; February: 44. We also thank Him for blessing us in travel by motorcycle, along the sea, over many rough roads, and into the mountains with safety and protection. We thank Him also for the many opportunities He has given us which include to go with Pastor Olus, who is planting a church on the mountain side of Chantel where last week on a return visit, an elderly man received Christ; to go with Pastor St. John, who is planting a church past Beraud and Ducis, in Castin where 11 children gathered to hear the gospel with the wordless book of colors, and accepted Christ; for flexibility when Pastor Branche d Homme called and asked us to go on evangelism with him in Coteaux, along the sea, Tuesday to a very poor community where he was born, where 6 people including a married couple prayed to receive Christ and a family asked us to return next Tuesday, when they would be ready to make a decision; and to go deep in the mountains to a church in Carr in Camp Perrin, in which the founder, Pastor Colbert of Beraud gave to me to Mother where on evangelism Wednesday with Pastor Hypolyte and 25 members, there was much witness and 10 young people prayed to receive Christ as their Savior. Praise the Lord, We cannot stop thanking Him. Please pray for the Church in Haiti and that many people will turn to God with their whole heart and want to share their most precious thing - their faith in Christ with others. Mary and Haitian Team. To God Be the Glory. 3/19 9:11pm, "Praying all is well with you. A lady who knew she needed to be saved accepted Christ plus 2 boys. Also: the father of pastor we work with rededicated his life to Him. =====April 4/9 PRAISE THE LORD FOR ALL HIS BLESSINGS. Tuesday we went further north up the sea coast of the south department 2 hours away. The paved road turned into rock and dirt with slight incline into mountain. As we were sharing the gospel people gathered. They said they never heard it that way before. Could we come and start a church there? Please pray with us for this community of Langisre, There are two churches there. We can bring Bible teaching. A young man and another woman with [a] family of 6 children and another group of 6 children prayed to receive Christ. We told them we would come back next Tuesday, after 3 days in Port au Prince this weekend. Lord willing we go to Camp Perrin to go on evangelism with my mountain church on Wednesday and with St John area church on Friday. We pray for Gods strength and His will this next week. Mary 4/16 We encouraged 4 churches to share the Gospel last week. We were rained out for 2 days, so instead we had "prayer for healing" all received, Praise the Lord! On Friday 2 elder plus one more received Christ! Mary =====August 8/6 I pray you are well. We start to evangelize next week and discipleship class in 2 churches to train new converts. I have my own room - [it's] very good. 8/14 I pray you are all fine. Miss you too. God blessed with 10 decisions & 1 rededication. I suffer from sun stroke. 4 churches are to start discipleship class. --Mary. 8/24 Dear friends and family, I greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and pray His blessings be on you. I am very privileged to be back with dear people of Haiti, to see their burden and pray to be used as a vessel to help them. After praying for Gods direction, I see it. I came to share the gospel door to door. But what then? Though the people struggle to survive, day to day, there are many people of great faith. They pray and worship and praise and fast and sing and shout and dance in their faith, but biblical instruction is limited. I thank Pastor Rob Kurtz for advising to contact missionaries already in Haiti. I thank Missionary Rodney Fitzsimmons for responding and sending a copy of his 16 lesson discipleship training in creole. Every church pastor that hears about it wants to take their members through it. In one week 4 churches are committed. Our plan is to take the people of the church through the discipleship class so they might be prepared to take new believers through class individually and so build the church. This is Gods plan wherever we are and I trust Him to bless it. There is a cost to copy lessons of $70 US per 100 17 page lessons. We pray to give lessons as the churches request them. If you would like to contribute, please [call 860-655-9000, Patrick Lanyon OR send direct: Mary Davis, 17264 San Carlos Blvd., Suite 302-128 | Ft Meyers Beach, FL 33931]. We pray for more laborers to the field. Praise the Lord In Christ, Mary Davis =====September 9/3 Praying for you that all is well too. Good evangelism in: Les Angelis, Chantel, & St. Jean. 10 saved; 4 rededications this week Praise the Lord! Mary 9/9 Dear friends and family, I greet you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ and pray His blessings be on you. Just when everything we do is manageable in evangelism - 45 decisions in August and discipleship classes - 70 in attendance, I have opportunity to make changes. I am thankful for the request to join with the established work of Haitian, Maxon Clersaint in the area of childrens bible program, evangelism and discipleship. He is the person who first brought me to Haiti as part of the Bethel Baptist Haitian Mission Team in 2013. However, before any agreement is made, he is giving me the opportunity to attend a Creole class to perfect my ability to minister in the language of the people. Maxon found the instructor and is allowing me to have the class at his guest house in Les Cayes. Pastor Prince and I are fitting this in the ministry God has blessed us in. He is also building his house in his spare time. This Tuesday Pastor Prince planned for 3 motorcycle teams for evangelism in Les Anglis area. Each team had 6 decisions plus 1 or 19 decisions for Christ. We discussed how the ministry could be enlarged with more resources for transportation and food costs for teams. After a beautiful day we were caught in rain storms & did not get home until after dark. But we praise the Lord for decisions, lives touched, & safety & protection of team members. Prayer requests: Cost to copy discipleship lessons & certificates $70 per 100 book copies, shipping costs for John & Romans $170 per 300, extra costs of evangelism expansion $25 per week, and cost of Creole class $30 per week. But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory.. Praise the Lord In Christ, Mary Davis 9/16 I pray all is well for you. All is fine here. God has blessed me with caring people around me. PTL. Sunday we were invited to a Lutheran church (looking for doctrinal help) in mountain area outside Port Salut. It was a hard ride on a motorcycle. We encouraged them with the Gospel which they amened, evangelism and discipleship. We are to go back Tuesday to go out on evangelism and start the discipleship lessons. I started the creole lessons and am devoting much time to it. However, we went out on evangelization Friday in St. John (St. Jean) area. I prayed God would send us where He wanted us to share His Word and would prepare hearts to receive Him. Three in a Catholic family prayed to accept Christ. PTL. We need to be available at any time to extend Gods love to anyone He puts in our path. Praise His name. Mary 4 Haiti. 9/25 Good morning. May God be with you and bless you. [I went] On Mountain Port Salute for evangelism with 3 from church who will follow up elderly to accept Christ. 10/3 @Noontime Approach begins: MATTHEW HURRICANE SCORES DIRECT HIT ON MINISTRY AREA (Tuesday, full power) WITH 145 MPH WINDS AND 8-10 FT STORM SURGE! 10/9 (10:57amSun)I am fine. We try to feed hungry. Food from U.S. in PortAuPrince. Home and churches destroyed. Church fell on ministry motorcycle. 10/26 Praise the Lord! He blessed us to survive the approx. 12 hour Oct. 4 hurricane and flooding rain last Friday. Though we lost our church, where people had gathered for safety, roofs off where we live, and the roof and front of church fell on the ministry motorcycle, we were kept safe. Many trees that supplied the people with food fell or tops were taken in the tempest. Pastor Prince used the tin that came off the church roof to replace the roof on the 2 rooms where he, his wife and 5 children live and to rebuild 1/2 the church roof to make a place to worship. The front is full of rubble. Praise the Lord, God led another missionary, Jeff and Cindi Farber, whom Pastor Prince translates for, to give him the money to buy another ministry motorcycle because they believe in our ministry. We have been teaching from Job: The LORD giveth and the LORD taketh away. Blessed be the name of the LORD. Though He slay me yet will I trust in Him. Gird up your loins like a man - in steadfast faith in God; and Revival - Let us come before Him broken - of our will so He can work His sovereign will through us and fill us to overflowing with his life-giving Holy Spirit. Here we must get out and point suffering people to the God who can make all things new. Pastor Prince and I will be back in Ohio 3rd week of December and Christmas. I pray God may bless you as you look to Him with your whole heart. Mary 4 Gods will in Haiti 11/12 Praying for you, that God blesses each of you. God blessed with 13 more to accept Christ in Les Anglais. They need food. I pray for the means to help. 11:22 AM 12/23/2016 Call from Pastor Prince then Mary: On Wednesday 12/21/16 the mother of Pastor Prince died, and the funeral will be on 12/27 in Haiti. We send them our sincere condolences. They are staying in Ft. Meyers, FL for the remainder of their brief trip. Pastor Prince reported at least 1,000 souls have been reached since he began with his ministry. Much of that increase has come when Mary arrived in early 2014. Thus about 400-500 have been reached this year we conclude from last year's report. Pastor Prince has a burden to establish disciplemaking converts to reach this VooDoo worshiping Island Nation. VooDooism is a great oppressive factor for him and his family. Mary lost her camera and some teaching materials through flooding of Hurricane Matthew. A newsletter will be forthcoming around 12/26 just before they return together the next day. Please pray now for his family as they deal with the death of his own mother while he's been in USA. -- Br. Pat =====2017 1:23 PM 1/27/2017 "MaryReport2017.txt" Mary Davis in Haiti Texts (& email newsletter text-only) translated reports to keep you current about Mary's ministry in Torbeck/Les Cayes area Haiti --- ----------- date report =====January 01/27 (2016 Report: 225 Decisions for Christ in 7 months) Otherwise three months in USA with family and friends; May was rainy season; October-hurricane Matthew recovery. In November I suffered a fractured wrist from a motorcycle mishap while taking discipleship lessons to a mountain church in Camp Perrin. I have just regained use of my wrist and am retraining my fingers to work. We are blessed to enlarge our evangelism ministry to transport ministry teams in a car provided by a friend of Pastor Prince in Florida. There will be an additional expense to maintain it. As we prepare to contact the churches we have been involved with before the hurricane, to determine their current needs and to continue in evangelism and discipleship with them, we are struggling because we have very little additional resources to help them. I praise the Lord I could come to Haiti self-supported by USA Social Security. However to be a blessing to our Haitian brothers and sisters, we ask for your prayers for their needs: food, building materials to rebuild homes & churches, ministry auto maintenance, tracts and bibles. I came to Haiti with purpose to show a poverty stricken country that GOD loves them and the need to trust HIM in every situation; that our faith in GOD is real- to live for and be willing to die for. Where there is no vision, the people perish. We all need GODs vision: To gather a holy devoted people in complete fellowship with HIM as ONE in the image of HIS GLORY. Amen. PRAISE THE LORD! They helped me make packages of rice, beans, chicken flavoring and a Cross tract, Our team drove two hours to give the gospel to 160 people and to distribute the food to 190 families Wednesday. Pastor Ramiel Lajore of Eglise Veronne, who is teaching the discipleship lessons there, organized the people for smooth delivery of spiritual and physical food. There were 7+ who accepted Christ. When we gave a salvation prayer everyone said Amen. We gave them hope to trust in God for salvation in Christ and to trust in God for their physical needs to be met. Amen. If I had the resources, I would love to continue to minister among the people of that hurricane ravished seacoast where we have been giving the gospel this last year. Thursday we gave the gospel and distributed food from a backpack, to 24 poor families in Les Cayes in 2 1/2 hours. One person accepted Christ and 3 rededicated and committed to going back to church. Saturday in area where I live one young man recommitted his life to the Lord, 1 accepted Christ and a carpenter made an appointment to accept Christ next Saturday. PTL for the blessing to share Gods precious word with people who will hear it. God bless you, Mary. 6/4 Dear Friends, Thank you for prayers and contributions for Haitians in great need of help. Our team of myself and 4 Haitians presented the gospel again for 200 Haitians and distributed food for 250 families. It was hard this time; People kept coming whom we had to turn away. Some people have offered to help Pastor Prince finish building his house but they need more contributions. We started this project 2 years ago. One member of our team, Mexico, needs a surgery for a tumor causing him to have an enlarged jaw. There is a medical team that may do the surgery if we provide a visa and transportation to the US hospital. There are churches that have asked me to help them rebuild since the Oct 5th hurricane. Thank you for praying with me for these needs. I am coming back to America June 6th to go on a trip with Art and have family time. I am praying about the return to Haiti with a definite plan of service. To be part of a US team would be nice. May God bless you as we await His Coming Again. -Mary fall ===== 9/24 Praying for you too. Arrived safely at PortAuPrince. No bus (tax protest)Pastor gave me a place to stay. Very hot. I am thankful that since Hurricane Matthew a year ago the trees are growing back providing food for some people, that because of structural damage to the church a deputy & a church in Port-a-Prince want to help rebuild the church and the new outside bathroom is almost finished. I am thankful for safety & protection in travel and a wonderful response to the gospel with 65 decisions so far this month. Praise the Lord. There is a growing zeal to participate in evangelism from this church that is well taught in firm biblical doctrine. The first team went out Monday. In response to prayer for me to connect with a Baptist church, in the rain, we met Pastor Merzier Amos of CMBH Baptist Church of Roche-A-Bateau who wanted us to teach evangelism & go with them Tues. 12 people in 2 teams went up into the mountain across the road from the church and the sea. God blessed with 9 decisions. They want us to continue to encourage evangelism with other Baptist churches up this seacoast area hit by Matthew and this is where my heart is. Also in this church I met Ronald, a Christian, US marine who speaks 7 languages and is developing a trustworthy team to help people there with contributions from other countries. May Gods will be done to bless Haitians. Mary Davis =====November 11/18 Praying for you too! Lord willing I (will) continue in January to encourage evangelism in Baptist Churches - Mary Davis -(thanks for prayers) =====December 12/15 [Emailed Report #1] In answer to prayer to work with a Baptist church in Haiti AND along south-west coast hit by Hurricane Matthew Oct. 5, 2016, God has made a way. PTL. Riding through that area by motorcycle one day a week seeing the people struggle so, for food, for shelter, to survive, I said, if I had a place to stay here and a translator, I would be glad to work in this area and just see what God would do. Two years ago I spoke at a pastor's conference with Pastor Prince translator, on Evangelism and Discipleship and shared my experience of going house to house in Haiti. On October 10th of this year, Pastor Amos, a pastor of Rache-a-Bateau, recognized us there, in the rain and invited us to speak at his Baptist church Sunday October 15 on Encouraging Evangelism. We did and met on Tuesday October 17 with 12 members in 2 teams for evangelism in a mountain across road from the church and the sea. There were 9 salvation decisions. Pastor Amos leads a coalition of 12 area churches and is president of a mission of 300 churches in 3 of the 10 departments in Haiti. With a translator, I am in the process of speaking at each one on Encouraging Evangelism and following with a day of evangelism with members of the church. I am excited about this opportunity and pray other soul winners will come join us. Pastor Amos has guest rooms in his house and has offered them to us. We can do what God has called us to do: Go: Make Disciples, Baptize them, and Teach them what our Lord commanded us to do. We also want to hold crusades in this depressed community. We are praying to have a traveling sound system to take place to place. This draws the people to come who would not go to a church. The church and house where I will live need a generator for electricity. A monthly gift to Mary4Haiti would help us to bless churches we speak at with bibles, food, shoes, clothes, construction materials to repair their homes, and trees and garden plants as a source for food. Wow! We could give them hope and help make a difference in their lives. Philippians 4:17 "Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account." Psalm 103:22 ''Bless the LORD, all His works in all places of His dominion: Bless the LORD, O my soul." Isn't that what Life is all about? Being excited that Christ came to save us from the penalty of our sin that we could be back in intimate relationship with His Father, our God and Creator and have His Eternal Life and a place in Heaven when we die? And that He would receive all the Glory from our response to His Coming? This is the Good News I share with people in Haiti. I see they need bibles to study God's Word themselves. I thank you and pray for support of others to bring Bibles and New Testaments to believers and sincere inquirers in Haiti as I and Haitian team take the Gospel hut to hut, place to place in southwest Haiti. Praise God! His Word tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore if anyone be in Christ, he is a NEW creature; old things have passed away; Behold all things have become NEW. V-18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation. v-19 That is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation. v-20 Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ's behalf, be reconciled to God. v-21 For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might BECOME the righteousness of God in Him." Good News - But how would you know it without a copy of the "Good NEWS" - the Bible? In Haiti 50% of the people can not read. But there is a NEW generation educated, who can read and need a Bible in their own language. Please pray for Haitian Creole Bibles and NEW Testaments for believers and sincere inquirers, so they could understand their salvation in Christ and restored relationship with God and the privilege and responsibility that goes with it - to live for Him and tell others. It is the love of God revealed in Jesus Christ that only can change the world for good. Live it Tell it - for the glory of God. If it is the will of God we will get His Word there. Go, make disciples baptize them and teach them. We can help make "all things NEW for the poorest people in our part of the world. As NEW creatures in Christ, we go, make disciples, baptize, and teach them about a NEW life in Christ. Thank you for your prayers. Mary4Haiti. In Haiti it is very expensive to have a wedding so many couples live together without marriage. If one or both of them get saved, they cannot follow in baptism in that arrangement. The Pastor's wives are starting a project to provide wedding garments to be used by the needy couples to help them with this expense so they can do the right thing before God. So I am praying for contribution of used wedding garments to assist them. Thank you for your prayerful consideration. The Wedding Dress by Mary Davis A young bride carefully packs her wedding dress. It was the most wonderful day of her life - her wedding day. But now the wedding dress is put away and later sent away. In Haiti a young couple are living together and they have a child together now six years old. Because of the cost, marriage has been impossible. The young woman begins to suffer from illness and demonic attack as she loses control of her senses periodically. Other people beat on her to tell the demon to leave her. An older missionary has the wedding dress from her daughter in USA. The missionary talks with the young woman, by means of a translator, who is the pastor of the Church. She talks with the young woman about putting all her trust in Jesus and sincerely calling on Him to save her. After that she talked with the couple about how they must be right with God in marriage. They agree but in despair relate that they have no money for the expense of a wedding. The missionary and the pastor told the couple they would help them with the cost of the wedding and the missionary has the wedding dress. Then the missionary instructed her about what to do when demonic activity presented itself. James 4:7 "Submit yourself to God, resist the devil and he will flee." Be right with God; resist the devil in the name of Jesus and the devil will go. The couple was married in the church. When a demon presented itself the bride told it to "Go" in the name of Jesus and she has been free of illness and demonic activity since her wedding day. Praise The Lord! Bless His Holy Name. Victory in Jesus, now & forever. May God bless YOU as you live for Him. Mary 6/14 Prayn4u2 Things are calm but tense in the countryside. I praise the Lord for a Bible seminar in Pestel near the sea (north) with 50 pastors and leaders last weekend. They were so hungry to learn and had many questions. We were going to an island Caimite but had to return home before the revolt got into full swing closing all roads to main cities and we live below Les Cayes. This week our evangelistic activities were canceled in the city but we went on evangelism in the countryside 2 days with 5 decisions for Christ. Please pray for us for a peaceful resolution. There is a group trying to get the president to leave, others who want the high price of living to come down with 92% inflation. The police shoot people randomly. Then the revolters are attacking the police and shooting people who try to break their blockades. They are trying to keep people from going to church in the cities, so they will participate in the revolt to oust the president. May God help Haiti. Mary June 25 [Dear Friends and family,] People struggle still in Haiti[an urban areas ] but [it is] still calm in the countryside. We went to Les Cayes in the morning before protestors were in place. We understand Saturday will be a free day so people can conduct their business. If so I will try to plan a Bible seminar then. We had one in Roche a Bateau with 35 pastors & leaders June 21-22. Evangelism today in Formond resulted in 4 decisions. The residents want us to return to instruct their children who go to Catholic School and have received false teaching. We pray for God's leading & protection in what we do and where we go. I plan to return to US 2nd week July and Ohio 3rd week God willing if I can get to Port Au Prince airport. Mary. =====August Aug 26 Last report was of 11 voodoo priests kings who came from Africa to rededicate Haiti to the devil. We know God is greater than anything they can do. During that time the Christian Churches were holding 3 days of praying and fasting. We continue to take the gospel in the Les Cayes surrounding area: 12 decisions in August; Encouraging evangelism: Training for 60 people in east Les Cayes. Training for west Les Cayes and Bible seminar for 150 pastors and leaders next week. Thanks for prayer for Christians to stand for Christ in Haiti and everywhere! Amen? 9707 Thanks for contributions for Bibles, New Testaments, John-Romans shipping cost, gospel tracts and copies of Creole Seminar outlines. Thank you for those who contributed wedding dresses to encourage Christian marriage here. Victory in Jesus in all we do we pray. Mary =====September Sept 12 "We stand in that faith. Rebels in Port-au-Prince by gunpoint are not letting gasoline trucks come to Les Cayes for two weeks. This brings Les Cayes almost to a standstill. When a truck does get here, there are congested lines of trucks & vehicles trying to get the gas. Merchants sell the gas by a beer bottle for 3-4 times the price. Our Bible seminar to be 150 was 70 people. A training of 300 was 2 & is rescheduled. We did another training in evangelism in a church Sunday afternoon for 10 members then went on evangelism for 45 minutes and led 1 young man to the Lord. PTL On the way home we ran out of gas & there was none to buy. We walked from the main road 1-2 miles back to the church for pm service. When we needed to go to a meeting for planning on 2 day evangelism we went by tap tap (pick up truck for public transportation). Previously, I had invited a MEBSH pastor leader, Pastor Chery, who recognized me while I was on evangelism, to join the evangelism team. So there is now a team of 4 pastors organizing the Les Cayes outreach: Pastor Emilio, president & Pastor Altima, member assoc protestant pastors, Pastor Chery, MEBSH, and Pastor Senat, CMBH. They want to have a celebration time in the evening of Nov 1 & 2 to praise God for results. Pastor Prince & I will continue in evangelism and trainings as requested. Please pray for Gods will in His world & here. God bless you. Mary" Sept 25 "We continue to struggle from shortage of gas. An additional problem is that protesters are trying to force the president to leave by pressure of not allowing children to go to school. In Les Cayes there is presence of UN to control violence in the street. Lord willing we continue to pray and plan for 2 day evangelism in Les Cayes Nov 1-2. We experienced a small earth tremor today. Praise God He is control of all things. Since the 11 voodoo priests came from Africa to rededicate Haiti to the devil, Aug 14 and voodoo Haitians received them, Christians prayed but God may let them have the devil and withhold blessings. Our church had a week of prayer for Haiti and asking God's forgiveness. I am encouraging them to lovingly share truth of salvation in Jesus Christ with all including voodoo. Voodoo can't hurt the Christian because we are in Christ. PTL. Prayn4u2 Maryt from my T-Mobile 4G LTE Device " ======October Oct 2 "Les Cayes and other cities are under siege by opposition to the president. UN is mediating with both sides. Everything is escalating this coming weekend. We pray for God's perfect will in the situation. Sorry to hear of Pres Trump dilemna. Pray all is well with you. May God bless us all. Mary" Oct 25 "(God) removes kings and sets up kings" Dan 2:21. The conflict continues as many people protest for the president of Haiti to leave. There seems to be a standoff. He says he will finish his term but has not done anything about problems since cities have been cut off for last 7 weeks: no gas, no school, limited access to city markets or hospitals, risk of outlaws; and protesters will not give up their hold of the cities. Please pray for 2 day evangelism in Les Cayes Nov 1 & 2 in spite of protest planned for those secular celebration days. 50,000 gospel tracts have arrived from Fellowship League. May God get glory in it. PTL: 37 decisions for Christ in October. God bless you. Mary" =====Nov Nov 1&2 [Our] citiwide evangelism days [for] Les Cayes are postponed. With unrest in Haiti, the churches, though interested in participating, were not ready to do so. However 5 people went out. We saw manifestations to block roads by burning tires, trees & garbage. People were hungry and wanted food not gospel tracts. We prayed with them for God to meet their needs. There were 28 decisions for Christ. PTL. We gave Haiti this message: _____ Whereas: There is a God in heaven who says: Isa 45:22 "Look unto Me and be saved, all the ends of the earth" _____ Whereas: God tells us the way: 2Chron 7:14 "If My people which are called by My name, shall humble themselves & pray, & seek My face, & turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, & will forgive their sin, & will heal their land." Ps 27:8 "When you said 'Seek My face', my heart said, Your face Lord will I seek." _____ Whereas: Haiti has sought help from other nations to help them solve problems of corruption, hunger, poverty, insufficient education, & medical care while we are in danger of outlaws & vandalism: _____ Whereas: Jesus said, John 15:5 " ..You can do nothing without Me". John 14:6 " ..No man comes to the Father but by Me." _____ Whereas: "We come, with repentance toward God and faith toward the Lord Jesus Christ," & We come as "the Body of Christ, the Church." _____ Whereas: "We take this stand: We invoke God the Father, Jesus Christ His Son, and the Holy Spirit to break the hold of unrighteousness over Haiti." ===== Therefore: We look for God's perfect will for Haiti: Jer 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you, and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future." ===== Therefore: We plead with Les Cayes and all Haiti: Seek the one true living God. Stand in faith, praying, trusting God. Then, See what God can do through a nation that "seeks His face". Living by faith, Mary ===== 12/5/19: . Thanks for prayers. I am praying for you too. For the 2nd time we were held up by gunpoint for money (2015) by outlaws. I gave one a Bible. When I started to pray, one said let them go. As we share the gospel in the inner-city, shack to shack, I have compassion for these destitute families. People are hungry. Food from US went to Port Au Prince but did not seem to come to Les Cayes. In Mt 9:36 Jesus saw the multitudes & was moved with compassion because they were weary (trying to survive) & scattered abroad as sheep with no shepherd. They need the one true God. I pray too for the Lord of the harvest to send forth laborers into His harvest to bring people right with Himself. 30 accepted Christ in last month. Many others considering "the only way" to be right with God, according to the Bible, by faith in Jesus Christ. As we walk the streets with compassion and the gospel, young people who speak English are offering to go with me. One is Pablosso Polyte. Pastors in inner-city churches are inviting us to teach the 3-hour training on encouraging evangelism in their churches. We are distributing the NT Bibles in this area. 20 will go to a small church where only 1 person has a Bible. God is blessing this ministry. I pray for a young man or young couple with compassion to continue this ministry in Haiti. Because of Him who was born to save us, Mary. =====2020 2/1/2020 - "www.aprayernotebook.net/each1helps1/maryreport2020.txt" Mary Davis in Haiti Emails (& if specified as texts, of her newsletters) reports to keep you current about Mary's ministry in Torbeck/Les Cayes/Roche-a-bateau area Haiti --- ----------- date, time report detail =====January MARY DAVIS EMAIL REPORT 1/22/20 Dear friends and family, It was great to spend time with you this past month. Thank you for every gift for reaching more people in Haiti for Christ and every act of kindness directed this way. Thank you for contributions for Bibles. You are a blessing in my life and I pray I would be a blessing in your lives. It is always exciting when I return to Haiti. We take a fresh look at the ministry, pray and begin to make plans for next few months I am there. The Haitian people seem to be glad God is working in their midst. There are many opportunities. I will let you know how God leads us. I pray for safety and protection in travel and God's rich blessings for Haiti especially for those who are hungry for food or spiritually hungry for God's Word. -- Mary Davis =====February Feb 19, 2020, 11:24 PM Dear friends and family, Thank you for your prayers and special contributions to this ministry in Haiti. Every day is a new exciting time because "God's mercies are new every morning". PTL for 25 people who prayed to accept Christ and 4 who recommitted their life to the Lord including going back to attending church. Our evangelism is built around going out with the pastor or church teams so they can follow up in their church area. Every week we are going out on evangelism with Pastor Senat in inter-city and Pastor Jeudi in Les Cayes, Pastor Colbert in Bereaud, and Pastor Badette's team (north), new church, past airport of Les Cayes. We are rotating these with other churches when they are added. We participated at a Bible conference in Achin (east) after having an evangelism training with them. It is exciting to see pastors get interested in evangelism for their area. After speaking at a meeting of APEFCA mission (south-west of Les Cayes) we are having our first day of evangelism Feb 26 (Carnival Days) with the pastors of the churches in that area. We got to speak 10 minutes at a meeting of 100 pastors of the Association of Protestant Pastors. They want to continue to plan for another Les Cayes citiwide time of evangelism Nov 1 &2 2020. I am to have a Ladies Training in Encouraging Evangelism Feb 29. We pray for God to help stop the violence & kidnaping in Port-au-Prince and that it doesn't spread to Les Cayes or other cities of Haiti & America too. Mary. Feb 27,2020 edited 2:24 PM 3/2/2020 Subject: Haitian Mission Trip Mar 6-13 from Sanibel Community Church (island off Fort Myers, FL) Text: Dear sisters and brothers of the faith, I praise the Lord for His care of each one of us. Please pray for this Haitian mission Team coming. I have the privilege of joining and ministering with them. I pray for their safety and for all things to go well for the glory of God. The evangelism planned with APEFCA, the evangelistic mission west of Les Cayes was postponed because of rain and muddy roads until next Wednesday. Instead Pastor Prince, Pastor Colbert, Evangelist translator, Frantz Almeda and myself went on evangelism in Pastor Colbert's community in Bereaud. Because it was Carnival Days (Mardi Gra) many people were home. Four men listened to the gospel but said, Things were well with them. They did not need to be saved. We reminded them of the eternal penalty or judgment for sin - eternal death and that Jesus had paid the penalty for sin when He died on the cross and shed his sinless blood, the only thing that can wash away our sin, to pay the penalty for sin. It is a gift but each person must put their faith in and receive Christ and what He has done in order to count for them. Even when Jesus walked among men, people made excuse and did not receive Him. Then we witnessed to another man who said no not now. I asked what holds him back from being right with his God? He said he was involved in voodoo but periodically reads a Bible. Ebel Compere asked us to pray that he would leave demons and come to Christ. We shared the gospel with a Catholic woman, Clomie Laixama who said she would always be catholic. I said, The Bible doesn't tell us to be Catholic or Protestant. It is by putting your faith in Christ and calling on Him to save you. Don't you want to be right with God, God's way? She said yes and called on Jesus to save her. Then Pastor Colbert took us down a lane where some of the household went to his church. One man said he goes to the Catholic Church but he would listen to the gospel. He said he would visit Pastor Colbert's church. We had 2 witness going on there. Young people, Maurice and Carmelle Belance, Yervil and Cyssie Yivenson, Pierre Sterline, Ketlin Cherisar and Cherilas Oslin prayed to accept Christ. Frandzy Lavictoire rededicated his life to the Lord. Praise The Lord May God richly bless you as you yield your life to Him, Mary. =====March E-mail; 3/20/2020 PRAYER FOR WITCH DR. I went to my Haitian home very excited about the SCC misson trip. When I arrived March 13, I got news that on March 12 the voodoo witchdoctor, (F_D_) who we had witnessed to 2 weeks before had prayed to receive Christ. Now we have the responsibility to disciple him with the church we were working there with. We pray for God's protection of him and us and God's will for an acceptable occupation for Him so He can truly leave voodoo for the one true living God. CORONAVIRUS19 So now we are involved in further spiritual warfare. Thursday, Pastor Prince, Pastor Amos, Southern Baptist Mission Director for 3 departments of Haiti and myself went to Anes D'Hanaut to provide a bible seminar on Encouraging Evangelism. After entering their beautiful sea-front - mountain-view city after a 7 hour long trip through mountains, we headed 15 minutes up the mountain to the church for worship service and welcome, but we were met with community resistance. Haiti had just heard there were 2 cases of corona-virus in Haiti connected with white people. They were convinced the 2 pastors were bringing in a white person - me- to bring in the virus & hide in the woods. They were not going to allow it. They threatened to slice the motorcycyle tires with their macheti and beat us with sticks if we went any further. After they were aggressive with us again, we went to the police department. They did too. The police told the pastors, the people were filled with fear of corona virus, and since no white people live there, we needed to leave the community. With no sleep we took a 3 AM bus and then taptap back to Les Cayes. Everywhere Haitians are staring at any white people and telling us to go back to our country. The country is under lock-down again- no school, no market, no church and gasoline is about to be cut off. My plan is to take off a week from the public eye and let Pastor Prince and the pastors we work wih carry on the evanglism and otherwise seek the wisdom of God & spiritual leaders here. Possible POSTPONED TRAINING SEMINAR in JUNE We have a wonderful plan of training in evangelism for April and May which can be postponed for June. I don't want to overreact. 1Jn 4:4 "Greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world." I pray with you for our world, for God's will in our world: Peace of God in our lives through Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit... Mary Apr 17, 2020 Emailed Update with editing. Mary Davis is safe still from COVID-19! "Dear brothers and sisters in the Lord, as we pray for God's will to be done and plead for deliverance, we pray for you and your family. Praise the Lord we can find comfort in the scriptures: PS 91:9-10. "Because you have made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the Most High, your habitation; There shall no evil befall you, neither shall any plague come near your dwelling." Here in Haiti we have not seen any c-virus cases but 46 are reported. Schools and churches are closed. People are limited to groups of 10 but none in church. We are meeting at church in small groups, sitting apart and providing bleach water to wash hands meeting against threat of arrest. There is no known virus case in our area. We continue to have Bible study with converted witch doctor, F_D_ & family. He wants to start a church there. If the virus gets here it could be very devastating. We praise God for His deliverance so far but I pray for the needs of the poor living in slum conditions. God Bless You. We cannot take his grace of light for granted in a dark world. Praise God! Peter said, "Grow in grace and knowledge of Him". As we go through every day trusting in our great God surely we do just that. I was without internet access until my Christian friend, Nancy Ryan said,"Try at the library!" Praise the Lord for people God puts in our path at the right time to bless us. Thank you Nancy also for supplies and wedding dresses for the Haiti marriage project. Thank you for all you do to help the needy of Mansfield in the name of Jesus. I am visiting family & home churches while in US in August. God willing I return to Haiti in September with exciting ministry of taking the gospel house to house with church teams, encouraging evangelism wherever God gives opportunity, giving hope by pointing people to God as well as continuing the bible study-discipleship classes He has opened the door to. We continue such with former voodoo witchdoctor, Fenes Decor who was saved after I told him 1Cor 10:21-22 "You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of devils: you cannot be partakers of the Lord's table and of the table of devils. Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?" We have seen other voodoo worshipers accept Christ there also, when Fenes tells them that he doesn't do voodoo any more, that He became a Christian & invites them to the Bible study. Please pray with us about the possibility of starting a church there. Enclosed is my outline for encouraging evangelism and message for Hope in Haiti in English which I distribute in Haiti in Haitian creole as well as bibles & new testaments when I can. Phil 2:13-15 It is God who works in us (Christians) both to will & to do of His good pleasure. Don't grumble. "That you may be blameless & harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked & perverse nation, among whom you shine as lights in the world." Amen. Mary Davis 8/30/20 Email. Thank you, Pat, Chris, David, Joseph, for your generous sacrificial yet faithful gift to reach the dear Haitian people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Also thanks to my other sister, Vicki Wise, from Ohio and Alma Kurtz, Mansfield Baptist Temple for the case of 90 Haitian Creole New Testaments and Psalms. Bearing Precious Seed is contributing 600 John & Romans in French Creole. Another Christian, Carol Tooker from Truth Baptist Church, E Hartford Ct who moved to CA, sent a gift to help pay for Gospel tracts, shipping and opportunity to distribute them. My heart is warmed by your desire to participate in this ministry to take the Gospel to the Haitian people who have not heard or made a decision yet. Praise The Lord. This week I was also so surprised to receive a big box containing a gorgeous wedding dress. The postal worker carried it to my car. As part of the Haitian women's Christian marriage ministry, it will promote an opportunity for Christian marriage in Haiti. This is the 5th wedding dress this Christian friend from Ohio has contributed. God is So Good. I was blessed to be here for the Republican National Convention to hear the testimonies of what God has done and is doing in the lives of people of faith as well as to see the president proclaim his faith. I praise the Lord to see and be with my family in Ohio & Florida. I have purchased a ticket to Haiti for Labor Day Sept 7 AM. They will take temperatures upon entering the country and require us to sign a health form pledging we are not sick & require a 14 day self quarantine. Thank you for your prayers and God bless you as you live & serve Him as God gives you strength, health & ability to do so. Praise His Holy name. Mary =====September 9/12/2020 10:02 AM call from Mary and FB post following by CPL: We just got a call from Mary Davis direct from Haiti. She asked for prayer for Haitian Clergy who will be peacefully protesting dire conditions in the country to the elected-become-dictator President. They will be wearing white shirts with ties so as to be distinguished from other actors. Let us be in prayer for this in our churches here for conditions are far worse in countries such as these. She will be in quarantine for 11 more days because of the virus threat perceived there. She paid for 10 minutes of air time to talk, and is praying for America as well. I told her to be encouraged because we have seen astounding answers to prayer here in USA, so God can work there in the same way! #ThePowerOfPrayer #GodWinsAlways =====October 10/8/2020 Email. We praise the Lord for delivering Haiti from vast spread of Corona virus. God knew they had no resources (except tea) to fight it, and in answer of prayer gave delivery. Praise The Lord. Well, it looked like the calm before the storm last week. The currency exchange rate of the American dollar has gone down since I left Haiti in July. It was $1 American = 106 Haitian goude. Now it is $1 American = 60 goude, but the government will only give 18 goude for each $1 American. This results in factories threatening to close putting 150,000 out of work. Also the president had required a new high fee on the sale of gasoline. The station owners said they would close down because they could not pay it or raise the price of gasoline. But this week after American government spoke harshly to Haiti government, the president is lowering the price of gasoline and Haiti is to proceed with elections in January. But PTL, God willing we will continue to go with the gospel, train church leaders in evangelism and invite them to participate in the citywide evangelism of Les Cayes on devil's day, Oct 31 and days of the dead Nov 1&2. Many missions and churches have committed to participate. I am preparing a citywide map to use to assign & record our efforts. Pastor Emilio Voltaire, though paralyzed, as president of Assoc. Protestant Churches in Les Cayes & South department, oversees this project and has initiated formation of Evangelistic Commission - calling together leaders in evangelism. President is Jean Chery, MEBSH - Mission of Evangelical Baptists Serving Haiti; vice president is Pastor Gerald Carisme, Fishers of Men; secretary is Pastor Wilfrid Prince, Pastor & evangelist. They asked me to be an ambassador for the group. We are all working together to support each other's ministries for the glory of God and good of Haiti. Oct 21-25 Pastor Prince & 2 others are to go to Cap Haitian, north department to share work of south department in Haiti and go on evangelism with them. All this is an answer to prayer (last email) to see Haitian pastors lead the way in preaching the Gospel. PTL. Thanks to contributions from Mansfield Baptist Temple OH, Sanibel Community Church, Sanibel Island FL (where daughter Deb Ames has a landscape business), Truth Baptist Church, E. Hartford CT (where Pat & Christine {my sister} Lanyon serve in ministry), friends & family; God is blessing this ministry to involve more Christians to reach more people with the Gospel & Word of God. Thank you so much and may God mightily bless our work together for His Glory. Praying & Praising God for you "Christ in us, the Hope of Glory" Col 1:27. Mary OCTOBER 25 -- Please pray for Oct 31; Nov 1&2 citywide evangelism Les Cayes, Haiti Thank you for your prayers. God has been so good in giving us safety, protection, and wellness. This is a culmination of 1 year of encouragement in evangelism in churches. 25 churches & missions have committed to participate. Please pray for clear effective assignment of the various teams to evangelize. We will send the teams out from a ministry center church 10-12 &1-3 each day in which they will return to give reports. Pastor Emilio sent out a request to all the churches to pray for us. My daughter, Deb Ames, made a special effort to send more tracts and Agape Flights made special effort to timely ship them so I received them Thursday in the midst of the rainy season (rained all last week). Though Oct31 Nov 1&2 are days to celebrate the dead in Haiti, Oct 31 is also day to remember the leaders of the reformation. 503 years ago, Oct 31, 1517, Martin Luther nailed the 95 theses to the Castle Church door in Wittenburg Germany, proclaiming why the sale of indulgences to release a person from consequences of sin was wrong & dangerous. Martin Luther, former monk of the Catholic Church, when he was saved, was insistent that forgiveness of sin could not be achieved by paying a gift, saying prayers, or being given a letter of indulgence. It is not by works! But by faith in the sinless blood of Christ shed on the cross to pay the penalty for our sin; His resurrection being our assurance a holy God accepted His sacrifice for our justification from sin. PTL. Martin Luther taught, Just as the earth cannot produce rain but receives it as a gift from God, even so, we do nothing to deserve the righteousness of God but receive it by faith. As we pray for each other, may God's perfect will prevail. With coming elections: Dan 2:21 "He changes the times and the seasons: He removes kings, and sets up kings.." May we be vigilant in telling the Gospel. All is in the hand of God. PTL. Mary =====November 11/6/2020 Email. Les Cayes Results (106 Professions!) Jer 29:11 "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts of peace (Peace comes from God) and not of evil (calamity) to give you an expected end (a future and a hope)." PTL Our hope is in Christ, hope of glory, hope of eternal life. Thank you for your prayers. Writing to you and praying for you encourages me in the faith past obstacles of age. Fourteen (14) churches participated in the citywide evangelism of Les Cayes. Groups came in at different times, prayed, picked up their tracts, John & Romans and bottles of water and went out. There were 106 decisions for Christ. PTL. We will continue to go out with church teams. God bless you as you live for Him. Mary =====December 7:22 AM 12/3/2020 Email. "Witch Doctor Mini$tries Crying out..." Special needs in Haiti as we continue in evangelism in many areas. Mexico Philyppeau is a growing Christian young man who serves in ministry at Pastor Prince's church, in Kahouck in the South department, Haiti, even with his disability of a mouth tumor. This condition causes him so much pain, that now he can't eat. He is in need of surgery for this condition, which cannot be done in Haiti. We have been trying to organize an American medical team for him for years to no avail. In January he went to the hospital boat in Port au Prince sent from the United States for the surgery after we paid for the necessary x-rays. There were so many Haitian people with this condition only worse, his surgery was postponed until March when the threat of co-vid hit. We did not hear anything until just now when Dr. Canton told Mexico to send the amount of money shown on the quote attachment and they would do the surgery in Cuba. Cathie Moleus in Boston, Mass, who knows Dr. Canton has been trying to raise money for this surgical procedure, Her telephone number is 781 363 4865. I am writing to prayerfully request the possibility of a special offering to help with this financial need. I thank you for your consideration. Please see Attachments. I also ask you to pray about this need. The converted witchdoctor (March 2020) Fanes Decor, has many problems of satanic oppression with a new reality without the income he once had. He tried animal buying and selling that did not work for him. He is living by faith but needs to make some significant decisions. Other people who came there for witchdoctor services or to work for him, and then came to our bible study there and made decisions for Christ, struggle also. One decision for Fanes is to choose to proceed with marriage to Rose, a recommitted Christian, whom he lives with & they have a child together or to separate until they do marry. She waits for him. A problem we also have to deal with is that Fanes had a room of Satanic things which he failed to destroy. They belonged to his grandfather who was a witchdoctor before him. Now, some of the other relatives who share in the grandfather's inheritance of the contents of that room want them so they can take up witchdoctor practice. They want to tear down & move the room with its contents. This action would destroy the room Fanes lives in next to it. Fanes inherited the land from his father. He wants to build a house there and, God willing, a place to worship God. Another pastor donated money for rock & sand to start to build. Please pray with us for our safety and that the contents of the room could be destroyed, not passed on to other faithless people - that those relatives could be saved and they could have Christian harmony in that area. A higher-up witchdoctor repossessed Fanes' motorcycle last week when 3 witchdoctors came to our bible study. When new ones come we give a strong presentation of the gospel, the only way according to the Bible to be right with, and have restored relationship with the one, true, living God & to have His eternal life; versus the state of all other people in sin, under the influence of the defeated angel, Satan, who are headed for the judgment of eternal death. Two of the witchdoctors who came, wanted to consider salvation but could not give up their incomes. One young man, Masolyn, who came to hire the witchdoctor accepted Christ. Nine months since Fanes' conversion, people are getting saved there. They need a new source of income in a country with few jobs. Only God can help. So we trust Him & faithfully study & teach His Word. Please pray for God's will in this situation. I see a need for a ministry to reach the voodoo practitoners of Haiti: a place where when they come, they find the way, the truth & the life in Christ and some support until they are on their feet on God's side instead of working for the devil. It's their tradition but the Bible says in 1Pet 1:18-19, "You know that you were not redeemed with corruptible things.. received by tradition from your fathers; but with the precious blood of Christ. as of a lamb without blemish, without spot.". Please pray with me for a Christian outreach or sponsor to uphold a ministry to them. Thank you for your prayers & support of this ministry. God bless. Mary 1:45 PM 12/10/2020 Hark the Herald angels sing: The new born king! PTL We continue to pray for funds for surgery needs for Mexico Philyppeau The new Evangelism Commission of The Association of Pastors of Protestant Churches of Les Cayes (of which I am a member) is starting to meet to plan the program for the new year. The goal is to develop an evangelism program for all 19 cities in the South Department, then include the other 9 Departments (like counties) of Haiti (which is the size of Maryland) through their Association of Pastors of Protestant Churches; then other countries. It is exciting to me. God has blessed Pastor Prince and myself with churches that welcome our encouragement in evangelism and in helping them build evangelism teams. I would love to do this with Sanibel Island [Florida] when I am home. When times are bad, the easier it is to not go, but all the more people need encouragement to turn to God who is our help, refuge and salvation. PTL. Did you ever think that we could partner with Haitians right in our part of Florida? Back to the former witchdoctor, Fanes Decor, Rose the woman he lives with, and Masolyn, a young man that came, accepted Christ and has stayed there. I need counsel and prayer for the situation. We are counseling Fanes. He just recently took worship of God in the church more seriously. In bible study we stress prayer and bible study. We have had lessons on putting on the whole armor of God taken from my notes in the RMI bible study on "The Invisible War". We are counseling him in God's institution of marriage and the need to destroy the remnants of his voodoo practice. We are trying to convict the relatives that want to continue that practice that God is against it and cannot bless or will not answer prayers while they are in sin. I am back in Fort Myers FL with family. However I spent Christmas with a pain in the groin and a swollen leg where I had been bitten by attack of a dog in Haiti the week before. The diagnoses was a blood clot in that leg. The dog bite was healing. They put me on Xarelto for treatment of deep vein thrombosis. I am doing fine with minimal activity. My telephone - Whats App is 239-291-8362. Lord willing, I will return to Haiti Jan 18 to speak at an evangelism mission meeting in Jacmel - my first time there. I look forward to continue to plan with the Association of Protestant Churches' Evangelism Commission, to assist a (Church sponsored) English school for Haitians on Sunday afternoons & participate in evangelism during the week. In regard to the prayer requests: Mexico Philippeau for surgery for a mouth tumor - not yet - we are looking into more details - one being a cost increase. We thank those who were led to make a contribution for him which we are holding until it can happen. He is like a Christian brother and needs the operation. Any contribution can be sent to MBT [Mansfield Baptist Temple] 752 N.Stewart Rd Mansfield OH 44905 c/o Mary Davis for Mexico Philippeau and we thank you. The 2nd prayer request was for the family members of former witch doctor, Fanes Decor to be saved and not carry on that evil. His sister, Ketteline Kernizan has made a sincere thought-out decision to accept & follow Christ. We continue to pray for them & God's will in all things. Our HOPE is in God who said, "If MY people, which are called by MY name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and then turn from their wicked ways; then will I HEAR from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will HEAL their land." No man can pluck us out of our Father's hand. PTL I am writing to ask you to pray for Mexico Philippeau from Haiti who goes to National Institute of Oncology & Radiobiology in Havana, Cuba Feb 3rd for surgery for a mouth tumor. He is due to be there for a month. Thank you for those who contributed for the needed surgery. Please also pray that the contribution arrives safely in Cuba to the hospital as Cuba is under an embargo. Thank you for your prayers & thank God for His perfect will. Blessings Mary =====February 2/6/21 (Email) Thank you for prayers for Mexico & surgery in regard to the life threatening mouth tumor. Much unrest & uncertainty in our world. Where do we turn? Our faith in God: Ps 91:1-4 "He that dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in Him will I trust. Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the noisome pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers and under His wings shall you trust: His truth shall be your shield and buckler.." God gives words of comfort & hope: v-14-16 "Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he has known My name: He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With length of days will I satisfy him, and show him My salvation." Mexico's flight into Cuba for his surgery was delayed because of covid lockdown in Cuba. Only Cubans were allowed to fly. Mexico's flight and surgery have been postponed though they know it is a medical emergency. There is continued unrest & violence in Haiti. Towards Les Cayes, the pastor of the Baptist church, past Formond (precinct area) Baptist was shot & killed going to the bank. Pastor Prince was to have met with him on Friday to help them with their evangelism program. We are so sorry that this could happen in our area & grieve with his family & (big) church. I pray for things to calm down so I can return & share the Gospel & encourage others to do so to. It is God who changes hearts. May we stand faithful in our faith. Mary 2/13/21 (Email) Enclosed are notes from "Healing the Nations: A Call to Global Intercession" by John Loren Sandford What do you think about this end-times intercession ministry for healing of the nations? Intercession begins in the heart of God. Gods Holy Spirit broods over His creation, finding what has become void & then moving to fill it through intercession of His own. God has been preparing us to be a people for Himself: blood washed, cross-crucified, resurrection-transformed children of God who are maturing, warriors for others. We need to be Crucified Purity does not come without death. Jn 12:24 ". Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground & die, it abides alone: but if it die, it brings forth much fruit." Anything in us apart from the likeness of Christ must find death on His cross. Gal 5:24 Those who believe in Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions & desires (we do it). Gal 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ (something done to us by the Holy Spirit). There can not be one without the other. We must move ourselves into position so He can crucify us. How? It is only when we forget about ourselves & obey Gods call to serve others that we give Him permission to put us into circumstances & situations that crucify our old nature. It is only as Jesus love pours through us for others that resurrection life overcomes what we have been & transforms us into His likeness. If we set out to serve God in obedience, He crucifies us & makes us new & holy creatures in Him. 1Jn 3:3 As Jesus lives unto the Father, we live right with God in loving service to God for the sake of whoever God calls us to love & serve. We must come into a pure & perfect hatred of what is evil Rom 12:9. Only when our Fathers perfect love infuses our hearts & causes us to siphon death out of others to our Lords cross, only when we experience with Him the desperate cost of sin, do we come into a perfect & righteous hatred of it. This kind of hate is born of love. We allow Him to flood His life back through us to resurrect His own. (2Cor 4:10-12). "Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus Christ, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. So then death works in us, but life in you." God our Father must find a people willing to serve beyond the familiar, beyond the walls of Christianity, for an uncaring, unloving world that does not deserve His love but will receive it anyway if enough of the Fathers own will respond to the call. God our Father seeks to extend mercy to the nations, until He can present them as gifts to His Son. Ps 2: 8 "Ask of Me & I shall give You the nations for Your inheritance & the uttermost parts of the earth for your possession." He waits on high to have compassion on us. Isa 30:18 And therefore will the LORD wait, that He may be gracious unto you & therefore will He be exalted, that He may have mercy upon you: for the Lord is a God of judgment: blessed are all they that wait for Him. I believe his response awaits 2 factors: 1. We understand many things & pray accurately in His wisdom. It might take more maturity. 2. Unity not isolated. God wants an army. Strongholds can not prevail where He who is the truth is manifested through the love of an army, all laying down their lives as He did. We can win this war. Eph 6:12-13 . Our Father has not abandoned us to what we deserve. The flood of His love is greater than that of Satan. He is calling. He wants hearts through whom He can heal His tattered & broken earth. That is holiness. That is purity. The reward? We get to see Jesus as He is. Fix that hope on us, Lord. Those whom the Lord calls to stand for Him for the healing of the nations must be committed wholeheartedly to loving & cherishing what Jesus loves: unity in God. The righteous nation of the Church & nations of the world wait for that kind of loving, self-dying fellowship. Jn 17:21. "That they all may be one: as You, Father, are in Me, & I in You, that they also may be One in Us: that the world may believe that You have sent Me." Guidelines for Those who would Serve God for The Healing of the Nations 1. Come to know the Father intimately. 2. Stand in your faith as rocks in a sea of chaos. 3. Act at all times within the nature of our Lord Jesus Christ. 4. Be a corps or army on whom our Father can depend. 5. Commit to not becoming reabsorbed in our own issues in the coming days of spiritual warfare & the healing of the nations. 6. Commit to give ourselves as living sacrifices for burden-bearing intercessory prayer. 7. Be available to be summoned into extraordinary heavenly councils for nations as the Father wills. Jeremiah 23:18, 22 spoke forcefully about councils of God that should have been attended by men. Who has stood in the council of the Lord, that he should see & hear His Word? Who has given heed to His Word & listened? If they had stood in My council, then they would have announced My Words to My people & would have turned them from their evil way & from the evil of their deeds. We need to be wrapped in such corporate glory of Him with one another that it elevates our minds & hearts beyond carnal feelings & thoughts into feeling & thinking with Him & in Him for what He wants. Such a people will tear down what Satan builds & build what God wants. Rom 13:9-10 "..You shall love your neighbor as yourself. Love works no ill to his neighbor: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law." Gal 6:2 "Bear you one another's burdens & so fulfil the law of Christ." I hope to return to Haiti, Monday morning. May God's will be done, and may He bless us to be a part of it. Amen. Mary =====March 3/17/21 Email Subj: Things are hot for change in Haiti. Thank you for prayers for Mexico Philippeau who was to have surgery for a mouth tumor. Everything has not yet fallen into place for the needed surgery, but we know God is working and everything is in His timing. God has given safety in travel in Les Cayes and the countryside. God is praised in the churches; we continue sharing the Gospel door to door & in the street. We have had 3 seminars on Encouraging Evangelism in Randal, Cavillon, and Comperin and 1 youth training in Evangelism and have plans to go on evangelism with their teams. We have 2 seminars planned this week in another department of Haiti, Nippe department. We go by longer trip taptap & taxi-motorcycle. Next week there is a seminar in St Louis beyond Cavillon. We pray for health, strength & sound mind with the leading of the Holy Spirit. It is so exciting to meet Christians in these different places and to encourage them to follow Christ's command and proclaim the only way to restore relationship with our God by grace through faith in Jesus Christ with the result of living pleasing to Him (Rom 13:8-10) empowered by the Holy Spirit. God's way is best, and especially in hard times we must live it, proclaim it and leave the rest in the hands of a sovereign God. Amen. Mary. =====April Blessings in the midst of turmoil. We pray for help to establish a web site for this ministry. Dear family and friends, Thank you for your prayers, contributions and Mansfield Baptist Temple (T.Chr.Sch) for the great contribution of boxes of NT with Psalms & Proverbs. Thank you for prayers for my sister, Vicki Wise in treatment for stage 4 ovarian cancer. Because she faces this alone, I believe God wants me here in Mansfield, Ohio with her at this time, Please pray for Pastor Jean Wilfrid Prince, whom God has blessed to continue this ministry. God has blessed with 21 decisions for Christ in April. One was a voodoo worshiper, worshipping demons, but now is faithful in Pastor Prince's Church. In my absence, Pastor Prince conducted a Spirit-filled seminar "Encouraging Evangelism" north of Comperin. God continued to bless in May in evangelism with 5 participating church pastors with 21 decisions and 4 Evangelism Seminars for 30-50 leaders & pastors each in Chantel, Platon, Muniche & Torbeck. Pastor Prince also continues 2 weekly Bible studies; one is for Fanes (converted witch doctor), family and others, north of the airport and the 2nd is west at infant church ministry in Valere as well as for his own church. We have served in partnership with Pastor Emilio Voltaire, President of Association of Protestant Churches and others including Pastor Jean Chery as founders of the "Evangelism Commission" holding Evangelism Training Seminars in each of the 19 cities of the SUD Department, one of 10 departments of Haiti. The goal is to encourage all participating Protestant Churches to commit to an Evangelism program. Pastor Prince continues to offer to assist the participating churches with training & going out on evangelism with them. We provide tracts and will provide NT to those converts who come to participating churches. We will invite them to participate in the Les Cayes Citi-wide Evangelism Nov 1&2. In regard to Mexico Philippeau, Dr Roger, the American facial surgeon plans to schedule Mexico's surgery in his next trip to Haiti, after Mexico has a biopsy with Dr. Willy at Partners in Health Hospital in Mirebalais, Haiti. I trust God to lead for me to return to Haiti and/or to send a younger evangelistic couple to this exciting ministry of sharing the Gospel and leading precious souls to Christ including birthing a ministry to those deceived in voodoo. Until then I know I must be open to share the Gospel and encourage others to do so here in USA. Because Col 1"27 ".. Christ in you, the hope of Glory." Love and prayers, Mary =====July =====August =====September =====October 10/10/21 Email Dear friends & family, I thank you for your prayers and support. As I prepare to return to Haiti, I see a world trying to do things without God, without the guidance of God our Creator as if He was not. And I pray for Christians to be revived, humble before Almighty God, all of us in repentance for our lack of faith and obedience and taking for granted the freedom He had given us. Yet may we be firm in our stand for salvation by the Grace of God through faith in Jesus Christ. No matter what befalls, we know our God is in control. We need not fear but trust Him as we watch and pray and look to Him. Not as Peter, who looking to Jesus started to walk on the water, but when He took his eyes off Jesus, began to sink. But even then when he called out, "Lord, Save Me," Jesus brought him back into the boat of safety. For we are sisters and brothers "in Christ" who is our hope in whom we live for His Glory, Romans 5:1-2 "Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God." We pray for all the missionaries God has sent everywhere in the world and the people He sent them to, to be converted and brought into closer relationship with Himself. Jesus said in Matt 24:14: "And this Gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come." We believe this means end of church age with the gathering up of Christians to meet the Lord in the air. So, while I have been in US since April, Pastor Wilfrid Prince has carried on our ministry of encouraging churches in evangelism in seminars and church evangelism teams, forming the Association of Protestant Pastors' Evangelism Commission and planning for the 3rd annual Nov 1 & 2 citiwide evangelism of Les Cayes, Haiti. We pray for wisdom and leading of God to go especially after the earthquake hit Les Cayes and general demise of the government in Haiti. The Evangelism commission prays for a jeep for use in transportation in Encouraging Evangelism all over the country of Haiti which would promote many people coming to Christ there including many from voodoo population. Thank you again for your prayers for God's work worldwide. PTL. Mary. PLEASE NOTE: CT editor update: I called for updates and Mary has already left for Haiti! Today, 10/19/21 at noontime I spoke with Joanne (@Mansfield Baptist Temple)and she said Mary had left 10/15/21, on Friday for FL, and Debbie had told her she is in Haiti and safe now. A year ago we asked for prayer for a Christian named "Mexico" with a serious condition of a mouth tumor. After several attempts to help him, Cuba was just opened up to Haitians and Mexico is now in the hospital there awaiting his surgery. Thank you for all who prayed and /or gave contribution for him last year. 2. We praise the Lord for a new web site promoting our Evangelism Ministry in Haiti being developed by "Kerschner Designs" in USA. It is called Haiti-evangelism-in-action.com. We will let you know when it is finished. 3. When we did an Encouraging Evangelism Seminar for the mission president of Bethesda International south Haiti, it was video taped to the president of whole mission in NY. He was very pleased with the Bible presentation and wants us to continue to teach it throughout his mission area. He said, "This is what the church needs to hear at this time." We give the glory to God because it is His Word, committed to the Church to tell the world "until the end comes" Mt 24:14. PTL. We continue in evangelism and are encouraging discipleship too. Great! I am always looking for best teaching for Haiti. But I won't be here. But a leader in the church, Evangelism pastor, Doug Hummer, told me the program came from Capitol Hill Baptist Church in Washington DC and I could download it. What a blessing that is! I see Matt 28:18-20 in 3 parts: 1. Go by command & authority of Christ and make disciples in all nations. 2. As they come to salvation & a desire for commitment to Christ by baptism, welcome them into the Church. 3. Teach and train them as Christ taught - discipleship training or better yet disciple training. And God is with us. We cannot fail. As I am getting older, I look to encourage others to participate in this work of encouraging evangelism and discipleship in the churches in Haiti where otherwise this emphasis is lacking. Pastor Prince is full of the Spirit and zeal in this work. I would like to recommend him and encourage churches in America to support him in continuing this work of encouraging churches to have an evangelism & discipleship program in their church. We provide tracts, Bibles, handouts for lessons & cost of seminars through contributions we receive. Pastor Prince continues in presenting seminars in "Encouraging Evangelism" while I am in USA. Pastor Prince supports his family as a translator and transportation driver for me. Praise the Lord for safety and protection driving in a country with little law. He is dedicated to God, his family, his church and evangelism. We believe only by bringing Haiti to God, can God bless Haiti, that they might be "a new creature: old things passed away: all things become new." I praise the Lord for 14 decisions in January and 2 seminars on "Encouraging Evangelism" that Pastor Prince conducted while I was in USA. I returned safely to Haiti January 29th. In February, God blessed with 24 decisions and 2 more Bible seminars in Tiburon (3 hours on a motorcycle) and Les Anglais across a mountain and then up the coast of southern Haiti peninsula. Three churches in Les Anglais want us to return for training and to go out on evangelism with them. PTL. We have Bible study with Fanes (converted witchdoctor) and others from that community north of the Les Cayes airport every Tuesday morning. They have no source of income and request money to send their children to school. Then in the afternoon we go on evangelism along the east sea coast of poor area of Les Cayes with Pastor Senat. We provide gospel tracts and John and Romans in Creole. Many people lost their homes in the earthquake and live in tents on the road along the sea across from Pastor Senat's church, Church of God on the Rock (Baptist). His church also suffered much damage and has been ordered to be torn down. However we are having a week of meetings by Evangelist, Gerald Carisme, Fishers of Men, there this coming week. I pray for you, my Christian friends & family and thank you for your prayers too. Just this last week, God brought to my attention this Child Evangelism story of Patrick, A Man who Loved God's Word. Things were hard in that time of 372-492 AD also. Patricius Magonus Sucatus was called Saint Patrick and we know that saints are people who have believed in the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior Eph 1:1; 1Thes 3:13. In the Old Testament, Saints were believers in God & the promised Savior 1Sam 2:9; Ps 37:28; Zech 14:5. Patrick's parents, in their village along the coast of Great Britain, were rich and believed in the living God & His Son Jesus Christ as Savior from sin. Patrick liked to have fun: hunt deer, hike, swim & play games. He did not want to hear about Jesus Christ or his own sin problem. He ignored his pastor's advice to accept Jesus as His Savior. One night when Patrick was 16 years old, he heard noise and screaming. Irish raiders had attacked his village, burning buildings. His sisters were tied & taken. His parents lay still on the ground. Would they die? Patrick was tied up & taken with 1000 prisoners to a ship, one of hundreds, he saw by moonlight. Horses, jewels & furs were loaded on board by the pirates. Patrick thought, "O God, is this my punishment because I had no time for you." Patrick knew he had sinned by not following Jesus. Rom 6:23: "The wages of sin is death." Patrick knew he had to start paying attention to God. His happy, carefree life was changing too fast to ignore God anymore. Patrick was sold as a slave to a chieftain named Milchu, a rich, cruel Druid. Druids were witches, magicians & sun worshipers (voodoo in Haiti). Their work was mysterious. Patrick had to take care of the pigs & sheep in the mountains. Milchu snarled, "Find a cave to sleep in and hunt for food. He gave Patrick a flint to start a fire. It was a hard life but slave life turned Patrick to God. He had no other hope for a better life. He repented of his sins & accepted Christ as his Savior. Soon Patrick was talking to God all day long & even in the night. Patrick did not have one page of the Bible to read but he remembered bible verses his parents had made him learn & they helped him. Patrick prayed with other slave boys there. He learned more about the Druids who taught people to worship stones, stars, sticks & wells and offered human sacrifices for luck. Patrick refused to go near their secret meetings. His mother had taught him. Ex 20:3 "You shall have no other gods before Me." Ps 119:11 "Your Word have I hid in my heart, that I might not sin against you." Josh 1:9 "Be strong and of good courage. Be not afraid or dismayed. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go." After 6 years in slavery, Patrick seemed to hear God speak in his heart, "You will soon return to your own country." A few nights later he dreamed, a ship from Britain was in harbor 200 miles away. Patrick trusted God to lead him there. When he arrived, the captain said, "If you can't pay, you can't board this ship." As Patrick turned away, he remembered Ps 50:15, "Call upon Me in the day of trouble: I will deliver you & you shall glorify Me." Patrick prayed, "Oh God, if you led me here, please help me now." Patrick heard the pounding of feet. The sailor said , "Come back." The captain said, "Climb aboard." God had answered Patrick's prayer. After 3 days, a storm grounded the ship. For a month they wandered until their food was gone. The captain said, "What do you say now Christian? If your God is so great, pray to Him. We're dying of hunger." Patrick replied, "Turn in faith to the Lord God. Nothing is impossible with Him. He will send you food." Patrick remembered, "Phil 4:19 "My God shall supply all your need." Soon they discovered a herd of wild pigs. They cooked the pigs & ate all the meat they wanted. Finally Patrick got home to see his parents again. They hugged & cried, "Don't ever leave us again." But Patrick could not forget the beautiful green island of Ireland and all the people who did not know the living God. One night Patrick had another dream. He saw the place where he had prayed. He saw his friends & heard them cry with arms outstretched to him. "Come back and teach us Patrick." Patrick was sure God was calling him to return to Ireland as a missionary. It wasn't easy but Patrick had chosen to obey God. In Ireland, he traveled on foot preaching & leading people to the Savior. Patrick explained, "God loves you and wants a personal relationship with you. But your sinful hearts keep you from knowing God until you come to Him & ask Him to take away your sins. Jesus is God & King of kings, but He loves you so much, He left Heaven to come to Earth as a human baby long ago. He lived a perfect life. When He grew up, He took the punishment for your sins by dying on a cross. Jesus did not stay dead. God gave Him life again. He later returned to Heaven. Receive Jesus as your Savior, and you will one day be with Him in the place He prepares in Heaven forever. Many people accepted Christ and did not become followers of the false Druid teachings in Ireland. Patrick had learned Ps 119:9 "How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your Word." Patrick loved God. He spent many hours talking to God in prayer. God protected Patrick because He loved and obeyed God & His Word. Rom 8:28 "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose." Patrick went from disobedience to slave to missionary. It is believed 200 churches were planted, 100,000 converts baptized, a growing missionary movement developed to Scotland, England, France, Germany & Switzerland & training schools established through Saint Patrick's work in Ireland. Praise the LORD. I am sending an attachment of encouragement from God's Word, Notes on Charles Stanley's "30 Life Principles" [uploaded, see texts.html file for this link] 3/24/2022 9:30 AM Email I am sending several photos regarding evangelism with Pastor & Mrs Stanley Senat of Church of God on the Rock and pictures of damage to their church from the earthquake August 14, 2021. The authorities have condemned the church building but there are experienced builders in the church who have a plan to replace the two broken walls, one at a time, restructure the building and then replace the floor keeping the solid foundation & roof. For the past 2 years Pastor Prince and I have partnered with Pastor & Mrs. Senat in evangelism after our seminar on "Encouraging Evangelism" there in this poor area of Les Cayes, Haiti. Lord willing the need for block, cement & iron for structural support will be met so these people we have witnessed to, will have a Bible-believing Church in their neighborhood. There are many new converts in the Church and for the second time. We are providing New Testaments for them this coming week. Speaking of earthquakes, I heard there was an earthquake in the north yesterday. About 3PM when I was studying my Bible where I live in the south, I felt my chair strangely move like it was sinking. Perhaps the land of Haiti is fed up with the false god worship & sacrifices & revengeful killing they do. More pictures will be sent in an additional email. Anything that can be done for the cause of Christ is exciting. May God richly bless you as you submit to live for Him. Mary 3/25/22 1 of 2 Emails "Remembering to Be Thankful" -- Praying for our understanding of what God allows and knowing there is nothing that happens outside His sovereign will. So we pray for each other and our Christian response of faith in it. Rom 12:9-21 .."Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. v-10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honor preferring one another; v-11 Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; v-12 Rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer; v-13 Distributing to the necessity of saints; given to hospitality. v-14 Bless them which persecute you: and curse not. v-15 Rejoice with them that rejoice, and weep with them that weep. v-16 Be of the same mind one toward another. Mind not high things, but condescend to men of low estate. Be not wise in your own conceits. v-17 Recompense to no man evil for evil. Provide things honest in the sight of all men. v-18 If it be possible, as much as lieth in you. live peaceably with all men. v-19 Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath; for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. v-20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst give him drink; for in so doing you shall heap coals of fire on his head. v-21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good." Praise the Lord. His way overcomes. Though things darken in our world, Thank you God that you are the Light of the world and if we follow you, we don't have to walk in the darkness. In the darkness of satan's influence prevailing in voodoo "as a way of culture" in Haiti, thank you that we overcome in our faith in Jesus the Son of God who came in the flesh to save us. Thank you that though we lose strength and abilities as our body ages, we know "our time is in Your hands, we watch, work & wait within Your will," knowing He which begun a good work in us will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ. 1Peter 5:10-11 "But the God of all grace, who has called us unto His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that you have suffered a while, make you perfect, establish you, strengthen, settle you. To Him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen" On Wednesday afternoons, I take 2 tap-taps (public transportation) from the rural area where I live (1 hour) back to Les Cayes and north to Simon, where I walk (40 minutes) to home of MEBSH - Cite of Light to join missionaries from US, Canada & Germany for a worship service in English. Because of the danger of being out after dark, I stay at the MEBSH guesthouse. I have WIFI there and can communicate by email on Thursday mornings. I praise the Lord for this blessing which I pay for by cash contributions from friends. Thank you friends for prayers and gifts for Haiti: Evangelism in Action. Because of health problems, I have felt a little discouraged (satanic influence). But by the power of the Holy Spirit, these words of the Lord pick me up and by the grace of God I pray that I would be a testimony for Him and His glory as long as He gives me life to go for Him. If the Lord wills, I will be here until June when I return to Florida for doctor appointments, then to Mansfield, Ohio for a memorial service for Art, July 16 and then through summer. Enclosed is something I prepared from Bible study and notes from A Christian perspective of voodoo. [See link to PDF "22c24VooDoo..."] 2 of 2 on 3/24/22 [these pictures will be added to the folder of Church Rebuilding link given previously] First there is picture of inside at front of church. People who lost homes in the August 14 [2021] earthquake live in tents in front of the Church. There is a project that will build homes for these people. Mrs. Senat in evangelism I will send more info and pictures as the work proceeds. Thank you for your prayers for these people with no hope but God. Mary 03/31/22--09:17am [an email not sent out yet(?) to her regular emailed list] Subj: Agape Love is unconditional. Agape Love does not stop due to circumstances. March: Rains; Protests; High prices; Bad roads; Risky driving; Week long Church meetings; Church conversions. Many people are seeking the Lord: Where else can they turn? For March we praise the Lord for evangelism 2X a week with 25 decisions, opportunities to assist 4 churches with evangelism and 1 seminar on Encouraging Evangelism Saturday in Port Salut just across a mountain. The motorcycle broke down on the way but God blessed with people who could make temporary repairs until we returned back to KaHouck in Torbeck area and make a more complete repair. Even though the Evangelism Department of The Association of Protestant Pastors (whom we work with) wants a sturdy van or truck to travel to evangelistic opportunities, we may need another capable motorcycle first. We also pray for a sound system to use in crusades. Thank you Christian friends for your encouraging words and replies to the emails I have sent. I am always thankful for you and thrilled to hear from you. When we don't have an opportunity to go minister, God blesses with insight in the regular study of the Bible and other noted authors He has sent my way over the years. I'm excited to share that with you and others as I seek a closer relationship with God and try to help Haitian people find the beginning of restored relationship with God when they surrender to His call to be their Lord and Savior, and then we encourage them that they can grow in that relationship with God according to His Word. Following the guideline of the Equipping the Saints tract, "Between you and God" I prepared this presentation of the Gospel and am sending it as an attachment. It blesses me and I hope blesses you too. On Tuesday March 29, Pastor Prince and I attempted to go to our Bible study with Fanes Decor (converted witchdoctor) and others by motorcycle, north past the airport. We could not go because of great protest of people in control of the road to the airport. They wanted to protest high costs because of criminal gang control of road to Port-au-Prince which they believed was funded by the owners of the airport. An Agape Flights mission team was in Haiti to continue rebuilding efforts (to rebuild a Church in Beltzmehl) following the August 14, 2021 earthquake. They had parked their plane securely, they thought, at the airport. Their Chieftain aircraft was destroyed by the protesters but the Agape team was safe. They went back to that airport to thank everyone there for their efforts and pray with them and tell them God loves them. Last Friday, March 25, Agape Missionary Flights CEO, Allen Speer had seen my email to rebuild Church of the Rock in impoverised area along eastcoast, Les Cayes damaged from August 14 earthquake and sent email that they would like to assist. I didn't get the email until now. Even in the wake of their heartache they still want to extend God's love to help others. Praise the Lord. CEO, Allen Speer says, "This loss can spur us on to greater things, because the love of God is greater." There is hope in the darkness because our God reigns. "..Christ in you, the hope of glory." Col 1:27 May God bless you and may we extend His love through any dark times God allows. Mary ----- Mary Davis, March 31, 2022 — 9am Between You and God, How is it? 1. God Loves You. a. Promise of Eternal Life Titus 1:2 “In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began.” John 11:25-26 Jesus said, “I am the resurrection, and the life: He that believes in Me, though He were dead, yet shall he live: And whosoever lives & believes in Me shall never die. Believe you this?” 1John 2:25 “And this is the promise that He has promised us even eternal life.” b. God Loves you. John 3:16 To have faith in Jesus Christ means to believe He is God (John 10:30), that He saves you by His crucifixion and that you receive the gift of eternal life (John 5:24; 6:40; 17:30). Jesus demonstrated sacrificial love for us by dying for our sins, making possible our forgiveness and restoring us to fellowship with the Father. 1John 3:16 “We know the love of God, because He laid down His life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.” 1John 4:19 “We love Him because He first loved us.” c. God is Love. 1John 4:8 “He that loves not knows not God; for God is love.” All of life is touched by His continuing love. Until we come to understand & believe at our most innermost level that God is love, we will struggle with trusting Him, yielding to Him, obeying Him & serving Him wholeheartedly. 2. We have Sinned. a. Our Lost Condition: Unrighteous -. Separated from a Holy God forever. Rom 3:10-12 “As it is written, ‘There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understands, there is none that seeks God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that does good, no not one.’ V. 13-16 * All sin eventually results from a rebellious attitude that will not honor the Lord for who He is. Rom 3:17-18 “And the way of peace have they not known: There is no fear of God before their eyes.” Eph 2:1-3 “And you (who come to faith in Jesus Christ) has He made alive who were dead in trespasses and sins. In time past, you walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now works in the children of disobedience: Among whom also we had our conduct in times past in the lusts of our flesh.. & were by nature children of wrath, even as others. Before we believe in Jesus, we are dead in our spirit to a God who is Spirit, blind to His ways, unable to communicate with Him & eternally separated from Him because of our sinful nature. There is nothing we can do to change this but we try. b. Mankind tries to keep the Law. Rom 3:19 “Now we know that what things so ever the law says, it says to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.” God gave His people the Law so they could understand their need for grace, a Savior, how great a gift Jesus has given us, not so they could try to earn the way. V. 20 “Therefore by the deeds of the law shall no flesh be justified in His sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.” Rom 4:5 “But to him that works not, but believes on Him that justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.” 3. God Himself gave the way to save us from the penalty of sin. a. A debt we owe. Rom 3:21-23 “But now the righteousness of God without the law is made known being witnessed by the law and the prophets. Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all & upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For we have all sinned & come short of the glory of God.” That is why sin is a debt that we owe: because we have broken the law against God. Rom 5:12. b. Jesus alone lived a sinless life and could pay our sin debt in full. 2Cor 5:21. 1Pet 1:18-21 “You know that you were not redeemed with corruptible things as silver & gold, from your useless conduct received by tradition from your fathers (ancestors) but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish & without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was revealed in these last days for you. Who by Him do believe in God that raised Him up from the dead & gave Him glory; that your faith & hope might be in God.” Phil2:7-8 The Lord Jesus left His magnificent throne in heaven, where he is surrounded with praise & worship & chose the limitation, suffering & lowliness of a human body just so He could show us his great love for us & save us to have His everlasting life. 1Pet 3:18 “For Christ also once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but made alive by the Spirit.” * So Christ, knowing every sin we would ever commit, took our record of wrongs upon Himself & wiped it all out with His own sinless blood. No one can condemn us because our Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ paid the penalty in full. Jesus atoned for our sin once for all. 4. Repentance Toward God & Faith Toward Jesus Christ (Acts 20:21) a. Come with a repentant heart. Acts 3:19 “Repent you therefore & be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord.” Peter & John had just healed the blind man. Peter pointed out that the people of Israel were crippled in their souls. Their healing would come the same way as for the disabled man – “through faith in His name.” b. Come with faith in Jesus Christ. John 3:36 “He that believes on the Son has everlasting life: and He that believes not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abides on him.” John 5:24 “Verily, verily I say to you, He that hears My word & believes on Him that sent Me has everlasting life & shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death to life. Acts 16:31 “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved, and your house.” c. Believe and Receive the gift of eternal life. Rom 10:9 “That if you shall confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus & shall believe in your heart that God had raised Him from the dead you shall be saved.” Salvation can only come through faith in Jesus Christ. You confess it with your mouth to put your faith into action and to affirm that you are accountable to Jesus Christ, who is now your Lord. You believe in your heart that He triumphed over death. This means He not only has the ability to save you but He has the authority to lead you & the wisdom to transform you. Rom 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Jesus is our ultimate, final & complete sacrifice & salvation is available to whoever puts his faith in Christ, saved by grace. Eph 2:4-5 “But God who is rich in mercy, for His great love wherewith He loved us. Even when we were dead in sins has made us alive, new together with Christ; by grace are you saved:” * Only one way to be reconciled with Almighty God: It is a new spirit & a new life – which is Christ’s gift to us when we believe in Him as our Savior. V. 6-9 “And has raised us up together & made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are you saved through faith, & not of yourselves: It is a gift of God. Not of works, lest any man should boast.” * If we were saved by our actions: doing good works, keeping the commandments & refraining from sin: we would always be in danger of losing our salvation whenever we stumbled. However, our salvation is a free gift & is secure in what Christ has done for us. Our salvation therefore magnifies the awesome love & grace of God alone. He blesses us because of His goodness. V. 10 “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God has before ordained that we should walk in them. Only by abiding in God, can He fulfill His purpose for us. 5. Grow in Faith; Grow in Relationship with God. 2Pet 3:18 “But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To Him be glory both now and forever.” Amen. a. Go to Church. Heb 10: 23-25 “Let us hold fast the profession of our faith.. Let us consider one another to provoke unto love and good works: not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: & so much the more, as you see the day approaching.” b. Pray and Confess sin: Eph 6:18 “Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints.” c. Read and Obey the Bible: 2Tim 2:15 “Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that needs not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of God.” d. Love God and love others: Rom 13:8 “Owe no man any thing, but to love one another, for he that loves another has fulfilled the law.” e. Tell the Gospel: Phil 2:15-16 “That you may be blameless and innocent, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked & perverse nation among whom you shine as lights in the world; Holding forth the Word of life; that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain, neither labored in vain.” Mat 24:14 “And this Gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations, and then shall the end come.” f. Live for the glory of God. 1Pet 1:7 “That the trial of your faith being much more precious than of gold that perishes, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ.” 1Pet 5:10-11 “But the God of all grace, who has called us unto His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that you have suffered a while, make you perfect, confirm, strengthen, settle you. To Him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.” ----- =====April 4/29/22 Email S="According to the Glorious Gospel of the Blessed God which was committed to my trust (and every member of the Church or Body of Christ)". Phil 1:11. Thank you friends and family for prayers & contributions to evangelistic ministry in Haiti. God is blessing as opportunities come to encourage evangelism and help develop church evangelistic teams. We pray the May rainy season does not hinder 1-2 seminars on Encouraging Evangelism planned for every week in May before I plan to return to U.S. in June. The Lord blessed with 31 decisions for Christ in April even though it rained almost every day in April. Many decisions were made by children in La Savann, intercity Les Cayes, along the sea, in an area where we go on evangelism every week with Pastor & Mrs Senat. They are attending their church, The Church of God on the Rock, (Baptist) the church under construction from the August 14 earthquake damage. The 3 construction bosses (members of the church) tore out the first wall, replaced it with plastic tarp, supported it with wood posts and started to structure the foundation with newly constructed iron supports before they rebuild the cement block wall thanks to contributions given. Praise the Lord.. Enclosed are photos of the work in progress. We are assisting a church that had no way to raise the funds necessary to repair this church. They have block and cement but said they need $20,000 Haitian dollars or 100,000 goudes which is $1,000 American dollars for the iron needed to do the wall on the other side of the church. We pray and trust God that that need will be met for them as He has blessed them so far. God is so good to work through His people as we are (one) with Him. Thanks for your prayers. It is a great encouragement against the onslaught of satan's discouragement. God is my strength and my health as I have great joy in standing in the gap sharing the Gospel of God's love with any person God gives me privilege as well as encouraging others to do so too. PTL. Mary =====May Email: May 19, 2022, 9:48 AM Subj: Haiti: Evangelism in Action 1st step: Seminar on Encouraging Evangelism in each of 21 cities in south department of Haiti surrounding Les Cayes God has blessed us to reach that goal. Pastor Emilio set up a conference for youth during Carnival Days last week of February to keep the youth from that debauchery. And he planned a seminar Encouraging Evangelism for those youth on May 2 (Labor Day-no school). 58 youth went out in teams. Many discussions-2 decisions. The youth said, it was a big blessing to have gospel tracts to teach the gospel and distribute them. Enclosed are photos from the seminars. The work is so exciting, People say, why do I stay when there is so much trouble in Haiti? The trouble is not prevalent in the south department. But regardless, it is a blessing to trust and obey and do and go where God opens the way. 2Chron 7:14 Turning to God is the hope for Haiti through faith in Jesus Christ. Christians must point the way. 2Tim 2:1-3 "Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things that thou has heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also. Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ." 2Thes 1:10-12 "When He shall come to be glorified in His saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day. Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, anf fulfil all the good pleasure of His goodness, and the work of faith with power: That the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in Him, according to the grace of our God, and the Lord Jesus Christ." Prayer Needs: Funds to supply the Gospel teaching tracts and Haitian Creole Bibles; a strong dependable vehicle. Please pray for Pastor Emilio (paralyzed). He is in therapy and needs help to pay for that and the braces he needs. Our prayers are with you, Mary. ----- School Evangelism Seminars Addenda: Last photo is bridge out to seminar in Corteau. They carry motorcycle up/down stairs. We have an extended vision. There is a Bible school graduating class that never had a class on evangelism. We have been asked to give an evangelism training before they gratuate Sunday. So the Evangelism in Action group of evangelists thought we should contact the Bible schools in the area & offer an evangelism class training & manual if they need it. Gen 1:31 “God saw all he had made and it was very good.” But in Haiti in 1492, with the arrival of the Spanish, & later the French, the Taino Indians were wiped out by disease, war & abuse by the Europeans. Because they needed laborers to mine the gold & work the plantations, the French brought slaves there from Africa. * Haiti teaches that a new frontier is a test of vision & stewardship to see the bigger picture. 2. The people (slaves) of Haiti fought for Independence achieved in 1804. Isaiah 66:2 “My hands have made both heaven & earth and they are Mine.” I the LORD have spoken.” (It was not the one true living God they turned to for victory from slavery, but voodoo gods.) Haiti wanted freedom, only God could give, but leaders were consumed with greed & lust for power. * Haiti teaches us that a war fueled by greed results in death, not peace, cooperation & God’s will & law. 3. They were isolated & alone with their own Haitian Creole language & Haitian voodoo worship of idols & satanic rituals. Jer 16:11-12 “Because your fathers have forsaken Me, said the Lord, walked after other gods, served them, worshipped them & have not kept My Law. You have done worse.. to walk after the imagination of his evil heart and don’t respond to Me.” Gal 5:20 “Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, wrath, strife, heresies: they which do these things shall not inherit the kingdom (of God).” * Haiti teaches us that man’s limited vision for self leads to taking advantage or exploitation of others. But God’s inspired vision frees leaders to rule according to his perfect will of humble concern for others resulting in effectiveness by faith in him. 1Pet 5:5-6 “God resists the proud & gives grace to the humble. Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time.” 4. Result: Devastating Famine: A Spiritual emptiness. Amos 8:11 “Behold the days come, says the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread nor of thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD.” Their minds were in darkness. Only by turning to God could Haiti be blessed & prosperous. But.. Deut 32:17 “They sacrificed to devils, not to God.. God said, “I will hide My face from them.” *Haitian leaders depended on ungodly spirits for leadership.* Spiritual poverty leads to physical poverty. * Not one leader has been able to break the yoke of poverty that threatened the people. 1 Cor 10:20-22 “But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to devils, & not to God: & I would not that you should have fellowship with devils. You can not drink the cup of the Lord, & the cup of devils: you cannot be partakers of the Lord’s table & of the table of devils. Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? Are we stronger than He?” *Haiti teaches us that we can serve only one Master: sin unto death or God in holiness who gives you salvation from the penalty of sin by faith in Jesus Christ, a love for others & His righteousness before God. Mat 6:24 “No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one & love the other; or else he will hold to the one & despise the other. You can not serve God and mammon.” * A nation that turns from the One True Living God cannot prosper. 5. Without God, hope was lost! Dreams unfulfilled. People must come to God & turn from Satan’s darkness. Eph 2:1-2 “You He made alive who were dead in trespasses & sins; for you walked according to the course of this word, according to the prince of the power of the air (the devil).” Col 1:13 “(Christ) who has delivered us from the power of darkness (the devil) and has transferred us into the kingdom of His dear Son.” * Haiti teaches us that God’s purpose is not for a few to gain for themselves but many restored to Him. 6. Haiti’s New Generation: An Educated young people with a vision for the Future. They need spiritual guidance. We have a responsibility to pass our faith to them. Ps 71:18 “Even when I am old & gray, do not forsake me, O God, til I declare your power to the next generation.” Eccl 12:1 “Remember now your Creator in the days of your youth, before the evil day comes, nor the years draw near, when you shall say, I have no pleasure in them.” Rom 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believes to the Jew first & also to the Greek.” Acts 1:8 “But you shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you & you shall be witnesses unto Me. Rom12:1-2 “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice unto God, which is your reasonable service. Be not conformed to this world: but be you transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good & perfect will of God.” * Haiti teaches us that embracing (God’s truth) & renewing the mind is vital. God’s way vs godlessness. 7. Hope Renewed. Bold Dreams forming. Jer 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you not to harm you, plans to give you hope & a future.” Ps 1:1-3 “Blessed is the man that walks not in the counsel of the un-godly, nor stands in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the LORD & in His law dies he meditate day & night. He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; whatever he does shall prosper.” John 14:6 “Jesus says, I am the way, the truth & the life: no man comes unto the Father but by Me.” John 3:19 “And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world & men loved darkness rather than light because their deeds were evil.” Hunger, poverty, lack of jobs, loss of natural resources & need for an honest competent government are challenges for Haiti but there are solutions in a right relationship with God in all areas of life. *Haiti teaches us that faith in God enables the new generation to see through the problems to the solution. Mat 9:36-38 Jesus saw the problem: “When He saw the multitudes & was moved with compassion for them because they were weary, scattered abroad like sheep with no shepherd. He prayed for the Lord to bring forth laborers to His harvest.” Jesus became the solution: Heb 12:2 “..For the joy that was set before Him, He endured the cross, despising the shame..” We too, have a choice: look at the problem or to be part of the solution: * The future of Haiti depends on you: a generation of young people seeking God, destined to be leaders. * Find your faith in God by grace through faith in Jesus Christ and be a good follower of Jesus Christ. * Pray for God’s will in every situation & lean not on your own understanding. Pro 3:5-6 Our hope is in the one true God who gives solutions. Live for Him. Tell of him. Christ in us; the Hope of glory. Can The Faith of America Give Haiti Hope? Notes from In the Name of God Amen by Daniel Ford 1. Haiti teaches that a new frontier is a test of vision & stewardship to see the bigger picture. The Reformers in England were called Puritans & more devout were called Separatists. They were the common people assumed to be uneducated. But with the Bible, commentaries & Reformer’s writings, they learned God’s ways & wanted to practice them. They were persecuted, became refugees in Geneva and in 1620 some came to America: a new frontier to live their lives freely, “In the name of God, Amen. 2. Haiti teaches us that a war fueled by greed results in death not peace, cooperation & God’s Law. The Pilgrims (Puritans) that settled America in 1620 were a people devout to God and to one another. They were devout members of churches and a devoutly self-governed commonwealth. Fifty years before the American Revolution, a new generation had gone cold, but the Great Awakening occurred whereby many multitudes of thousands experienced what they believed to be a spontaneous outflow of the Spirit of God. Through those preachers, Americans sensed the power of God (Providence) at work in the world; to change lives & empower them to gain independence from power of Great Britain. Thomas Paine wrote in ”The Salvation of God in 1746”: “The French had 40,000 arms, ammunition & blankets for Indians.. 7000 Indians had joined them. Upon the taking of Annapolis, they expected 18 French fleets on their coasts, resolved to destroy the Frontier settlements of the English colonies. New England again appealed to their Lord in distress: 2Sam 22:18 “He delivered me from my strong enemy & from them that hated me; for they were too strong for me.” In an immediate turn of Providence on behalf of an otherwise hopeless people, an overwhelming storm overtook & scattered the invaders turning New England’s pending ruin into the ruin of the French fleets. . The Almighty Hand of God had again been manifested in America. Thomas Elliot wrote: “If we be at once by the influence of the Spirit of Grace, brought to a sincere & through Repentance, God, even our God, will delight to dwell among us & bless us. Things will go well with us. If the Spirit be poured from on high, the wilderness shall be a fruitful field.” The Congress also published a circular letter to all the inhabitants of the American colonies which appealed to them to reform their lives, to pray & “with devotion of spirit, penitence of heart & commandment of life, to humble yourselves & implore the favor of Almighty God: and we fervently beseech His divine goodness, to take you in His gracious protection.” 3. Haiti teaches us that man’s vision for self leads to taking advantage of others, but God’s inspired vision frees leaders to rule according to His perfect will of humble concern for others effectively. There was little progress in human civilization until the founding of the American nation. They were still plowing fields behind animals, moving about in carts & hand weaving cloth. Then something happen-ed, the human spirit was set free: Creativity flourished; Experimentation abounded. “Americans were beginning to learn how to experience freedom. After the proven principles of liberty were institutionalized by the Constitution of 1787, it took less than 200 years before man was walking on the moon! Man had progressed more in 200 years than previous 5000 years.” From The 5000 Year Leap. The Puritans, founders of America, acquired their doctrine by reading, hearing & studying the Scriptures & applied them in prayer, repentance, fasting, intercession, thanksgiving & living their God-given calling. Gal 5:1,13 “Standfast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free & be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.. only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another” 4. Result: A Spiritual emptiness. Haiti teaches us that we can serve only one Master: Alexis de Torqueville in 1832 wrote about USA, that there was a gradual & progressive order of social equity: the essence of democracy. America’s success was in its devotion to God & a genuine Christianity that prevailed. Luke 4:8 “You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only shall you serve.” 5. Haiti teaches us that God’s purpose is for many people, not just the gain of a few. Mat 22:37-41 In God’s continuing mercy towards mankind, God then put His moral will & all wisdom of the ages for all people into two concise commandments. In God’s gracious incarnation as a man, Christ Jesus spoke of an universal obligation to have the Creator God as first of all human concerns. His second commandment was to consider others over oneself. Together, Christ merged truth & God’s love which obligated all the covenantal faithful to follow in the conduct of their lives on earth. * At Gettysburg, President Abraham Lincoln said, “This nation shall have a new birth of freedom & that government of the people, by the people, for the people shall not perish from the earth.” 6. Haiti’s New Generation: An Educated young people need a Spiritual vision for the future. Haiti teaches us that embracing the truth (God’s Truth) & renewing the mind is vital. The Puritans taught a moral reformation in which all aspects of human relations were brought into biblical conformity for the Glory of God beginning with the believer and his covenantal interpersonal behavior. Then, the covenantal role of parents was to be administered through the everyday interaction, instruction & discipline of their children: Pro 22:6 “Train them up.” They saw the covenantal role of churches as distinct, but binding members with their own obligations for needs of others: Gal 6:10 “As we have opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.” They saw the wider civil governments as under the authority of God enforcing the overall protection for their families & churches. God commands standards for each & respect for His all-sufficiency: John 15:5 “You can do nothing without me.” He is our means for cultural success. In 1954 the words “Under God” were added to the Pledge of Allegiance but Americans already believed that every man was a creation of God who endowed them with certain rights & responsibilities. Abraham Lincoln’s prayer: “Whereas it is the duty of nations as well as men to own their dependence upon the overruling power of God, to confess their sins in humble sorrow yet with assured hope that genuine repentance will lead to mercy & pardon.. Those nations are blessed whose God is the Lord.” 1865 7. Hope Renewed. Bold Dreams forming. Christ in us: the Hope of Glory Haiti teaches that a faith in the one true God enables the New Generation to see through the problems to the solution. Because Americans believed that God has decreed all men to be partakers of liberty, that our “manifest destiny” is to set the principle of self-government at work, to set free the enslaved, to regenerate the needy to change darkness into light, to teach old nations new civilization, to conform the destiny of the human race, to dissolve the spell of tyranny & exalt charity & shed blessings around the world. Ronald Reagan at Detroit MI Republican National Convention 7/17/1980, to be nominated for US president said, “Can we doubt that .. a divine Providence placed this land, this island of freedom, here as a refuge for all those people in the world who yearn to breathe free? * The freedom fighters of Afghanistan * Jews & Christians enduring persecution behind the Iron Curtain; * Our own Americans in captivity * The Boat people of Southeast Asia, Cuba & Haiti; * The victims of drought & famine in Africa; .Can we begin our crusade joined together in a moment of silent prayer? God Bless America. Reagan had just tapped the potential of a spiritual appeal to the American people. While the Great Awakening prepared hearts & minds of people of the American Revolution, it will take another Great Awakening to renew our right relation with God, saved by grace thru faith in Jesus Christ Ronald Reagan: “Without God, There is no virtue because there is no prompting of the conscience. Without God, ..It is the world that tells us only what the senses perceive.. Without God, Democracy will not and cannot long endure. If we ever forget that we’re “One Nation under God” then we will be a nation gone under.” Yes, The Faith of America can give Haiti Hope because God is no respecter of persons; He loves all. What Happens When a Nation Seeks God: Example of King Jehoshaphat! 1. A new king seeks God: Presence of God is with them: 2Chron 17:3-5 “The Lord was with Jehoshaphat because he walked in the 1st ways of his father David & sought not Baal. But sought to the LORD God of his father (Asa) & walked in His commandments & not after the doings of Israel. Therefore the LORD stablished the kingdom in his hand.” 2. There was Revival when the king sought the LORD. 2Chron 17:6 “And his heart was lifted up in the ways of the LORD. He took away the high places (places for pagan worship) & the groves (wooden images) out of Judah.” 3. Biblical Education: Provided by Priests & Levites to teach Law of the LORD: 2Chron 17:7-9 “In 3rd year he sent princes, Levites & priests. They taught in Judah & had the Book of the Law of the LORD with them & went throughout all the cities of Judah and taught the people.” 4. Blessing of God: There was no war and no hunger, but there was prosperity. 2Chron 17:10-12a “The fear of the LORD fell on all the kingdoms of the lands around Judah, so they made no war against Jehoshaphat. Philistines brought presents & tribute silver. Arabians brought flocks.” 5. God Blessed the Nation of Judah with Economic Growth & Business Development: 2Chron 17:12b-13a “He built in Judah castles & cities of store. He had much business in cities of Judah.” 6. God Blessed the Nation of Judah with Security, the army at his Service 2Chron 17:13b-19 “The men of war, mighty men of valor, were in Jerusalem. They waited on the king.” 7. King Jehoshaphat Participated in Evangelism. 2Chron 19:4 “Jehoshaphat dwelled in Jerusalem & he went out again through the people from Beer-sheba to the south & to Mt Ephraim to the north & brought the people back unto the LORD God of their fathers. 8. God brought Justice with Judges who would Fear & Serve God. 2Chron 19:5-11 “He set judges in the land in all the fenced cities to decide & apply justice in the fear of the LORD with a perfect heart. There was to be no iniquity with the LORD nor respect of persons..” 9. There was Deliverance from Enemies. 2Chron 20:2-17 “..There comes a great multitude against you. Jehoshaphat feared & set himself to seek the LORD. He proclaimed a fast throughout Judah & gathered themselves to ask help of the LORD, ‘Our God, will you now judge them?’ God answered, ‘Be not afraid, the battle is not yours but God’s.’ “ Nation of Judah with King Jehoshaphat “that sought God”, was blessed by God can be a hope for Haiti: Poverty: The Church should help but the people need jobs & income. To get jobs, people need education to learn skills for the jobs. To make jobs available, Haiti needs economic growth & business development, security & justice. What will Save Haiti? It’s us. When we study & hold forth God’s Word; Live our faith as we love God with all our heart & love others before ourselves; & tell The Gospel that will bring people to God. Then Haiti could be a Nation that seeks God, where the presence of God is, not misery & poverty; a nation that in justice fears God & desires to obey Him; Pray we become a nation whose hope is in God. =====June
