The Lanyon FamilyOur
Family About 1956 How does faith come through your parents? We can only trace the following. The Lanyon name comes up in some mystical Bible teachers in England and US, but we don't have verification of anything except the possessions we have. But we are thankful to know our relatives had interest, little though it be compared to our present day spiritual interests. Dad's RelativesWe don't have much info on dad's family. as I acquire more I'll add it.
Mom's RelativesSee graves of family I never knew, From Find-a-Grave.com Mary Bynam Austin, my great-great grandmother.
All that I really know about her is from a register in my Mom's Family Bible and an old Bible we found in my Uncle Bill and Grandma Gates house when they both had died. Family Picture Album: A Poem she wrote I have edited and reproduced below: Savior Hear Us
Savior hear us while we pray. Teach us what we ought to say, Take our sinful thoughts away, Lead us in a pleasant way.
Remember, Lord, we are so weak, While striving hard Thy will to seek. Thy will be done, we try to pray, But there is always something in the way.
We try our enemies to forgive, In order Christian lives to live; But evil will arise within, Just when we think how mean they have been.
Oh Lord, from sin our hearts release, And let our faith and love increase. No matter what we do or say, Temptations rise up in the way.
Oh how we need Thee every hour, The tempter's snares to overpower. Dear Lord On Thee our hope is stayed: Oh may we never be dismayed.
And when the hour of death shall come And all our work on earth is done, Receive us to Thy self above Where all is peace and joy and love.
The pleasures of this world are few Mixed with pain the whole way through. Sweet roses with thorns have their birth, Emblems of our joys on earth.
Now, righteous Father, give us grace To persevere and win the race. Though hard beset on every side, Protect us Lord and be our guide.
