Suggestions for CIVIL
LEADER Prayer Requests
Our relationship to government has always been a controversial topic both in
Biblical times as well as contemporary.
But we are commanded to pray for civil Governing Authorities and to
biblically submit to them.
Pray:
1 Tim 2:1 ¶ Therefore I exhort first of all that
supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks be made for all men,
2 for kings and all who are in authority, that we
may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and reverence.
3 For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior,
4 who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.
5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ
Jesus,
6 who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time,
7 for which I was appointed a preacher and an apostle—I am speaking the truth in
Christ and not lying—a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.
8 I desire therefore that the men pray everywhere, lifting up holy hands,
without wrath and doubting;
Submit:
Heb 13:17 Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out
for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not
with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you.
Romans 13.1 ¶ Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For
there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are
appointed by God.
2 Therefore whoever resists the authority resists the ordinance of God, and
those who resist will bring judgment on themselves.
3 For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to evil. Do you want to be
unafraid of the authority? Do what is good, and you will have praise from the
same.
4 For he is God’s minister to you for good. But if you do evil, be afraid; for
he does not bear the sword in vain; for he is God’s minister, an avenger to
execute wrath on him who practices evil.
5 Therefore you must be subject, not only because of wrath but also for
conscience’ sake.
6 For because of this you also pay taxes, for they are God’s ministers attending
continually to this very thing.
7 ¶ Render therefore to all their due: taxes to whom taxes are due, customs to
whom customs, fear to whom fear, honor to whom honor.
To correctly understand the interpretation of this passage, we'd encourage the
reader to consider this book by Chuck Baldwin:
“Romans 13:
The True Meaning of Submission.” This book takes the entire Word of God to
show that nowhere does the Bible teach (including in Romans 13) that
Christians should submit to unlawful government. In fact, just the opposite
is taught: Christians often have a duty to RESIST unlawful government.

Summary:
Romans
13: The True Meaning of Submission shows, with overwhelming
support, that submission to government is limited and that the
obey-government-no-matter-what argument is false!
Romans
13: The True Meaning of Submission discusses
and shows sound rules of biblical interpretation and construction,
incorporates logical and literary reasoning, and uses hundreds of Scriptural
proofs for its conclusions.

Introduction
Some good requests (More to be added):
- That these officials will truly act so as to bring us security resulting
in quiet, peace, and freedom to live pleasing to You, oh LORD.
- That wisdom about decisions made would be without partiality, and with
fairness and the most peaceful results would be chosen.
