Top Left: Christine from the age of 10 wished to be a missionary to Africa, so after she got saved and immediately baptised Her first weeks at Tennessee Temple, it was no surprise that after her graduation (A)she would seek a mission board that would let her go to Ghana -- the field of her first choice. (B)Her final mission field before marriage was Providenciales, which is the last card I was using to pray for her before we got married in 1988, and these three years perhaps challenged her as much as the previous (C) 12 years she served in Nasseau Christian Academy as a missionary to Bahamas. After arriving there early in 1973 she faithfully served until May,1985 being loved intensely by the staff, teachers and students. She had a reciprocal love for them! The fourth panel of this picture (D) is a reproduced article by the NASSEAU CHRISTIAN ACADEMY [NCA]'s school newpaper her 6th year as a teacher (1979). The Text, due to the low image resolution, reads as follows:
IN OUR SPOTLIGHT: "And they that be WISE
shall shine as the brightness of the flrmament: and they that tum many to
righteousness as the stars for ever and ever." (Daniel 12:3)
For six vears now N.C.A. has had a very wise teacher teaching for them. She is
Miss Chris Wise. Many have been blessed by her cheery. "Praise the Lord."
Miss Wise comes from Attica. Ohio. She received her training at Tennessee Temple
University in Chattanooga. Tennessee. She graduated from college in 1973.
One word that would describe Miss Wise would be the word "faithful". Even when
Miss Wise is sick and can hardly make it, she tries not to miss a day of
teaching. She works hard with her children in preparing them for the future.
Miss Wise not only teaches at N.C.A. but also is a wonderful soulwinner. She
teaches Sunday School at Baptist Bible Church and has a children's Bible Club.
We are happy to have Miss Wise on the teaching staff of N.C.A. and hope she will
continue to be a part of our school in the coming years.
Top Right: This picture taken in 2012 in our back yard with his mother and brother, Joseph. It was the year before Grandma Mary became ill and passed away. Each year she came all of us enjoyed having her in East Hartford. We have all LOVED life at home, and now cherish fond memories of the BEST mother-in-law one could ever have known!
Bottom Left: Mary Wise, since our marriage began until her death in 2013, has always been loved by all of us Lanyons. Chris' love for her was both deep and protective and we made it a priority to always vacation in OH. But Mary also made frequent trips to visit us and other family members helped her to get here, including Vicki Mary Ann (Davis) accompanied by grandson, Johnathan as was seen in February's mural!
Bottom Right: Another beloved friend of ours, Barbara Williams, was a student of Chris' back in Naseau. She came to CT, studied computer science, and became so proficient at her subject she was promoted from professor to staff teacher and Easten CT State University. In this 2014 photo she had our family over to her Mansfield Condominium and celebrated David's 24th Birthday! Barbie was taken suddenly in her condominium in June 8, 2015, and we attended and preserved her memorial service at ECSU there at this link: https://aprayernotebook.net/barbie/seeit.html
