Provo Christian School.

Providing a distinctive Christian academic experience.

OUR BEGINNING

Provo Christian School is a long time, respected institution of Providenciales, having been established by one of its prominent community members, Rev. Thomas A. Rigby in 1982. Pastor Rigby founded this school to provide the church families of Provo Bible Church and the surrounding community, with a Christ-centered institute to enhance their children’s educational and spiritual development.

Provo Christian School is the oldest private academic establishment in Providenciales. What began as a pre-kindergarten learning center grew over the years into a full elementary school to serve as an extension of the home in Christian education while meeting the unique interests and readiness of the children. From pre-kindergarten to grade six graduation, Provo Christian School is dedicated to bringing all students to their highest potential academically, socially, and spiritually.

Providing pre-school and elementary education to a small segment of the local community, the school has grown its awareness of providing quality education over the past few years and sought to expand and upgrade its operations.

The first pre-school classes were held in the Sunday School hall of the church, which consisted of a nursery and K4 and K5 kindergarten classes. Seeing a need for additional space as more and more parents sought enrollment for their children, Pastor Rigby, out of his own proceeds, constructed the first schoolhouse which consisted of three classrooms. Through gifts donated by his Christian brother, Mr. Gene Davis of North Carolina, and other friends and churches in the United States, he was able to furnish the classrooms. In the late 1980’s, the school was able to expand its enrollment and provide academics for grades 1 and 2.

In 1999, the main school building was completed through the dedicated efforts of Pastor Tom Rigby. In addition to investing his own capital, he was successful in securing the donations from a number of churches & educational groups from the United States. These various businesses, groups and individuals provided additional capital in addition to building materials, and equipment and supplies. With this main building in place, higher grades were added on gradually.

In 2002, Pastor Tom Rigby chose to pass on the responsibility of the school administration to his daughters, Mrs. Martha Harris and Mrs. Miriam Cannon. Mrs. Harris, a teacher for 20 years and presently the school’s administrator, along with Mrs. Cannon, a graduate of Liberty University, decided to implement a growth strategy which would allow the school to expand and upgrade to enhance the quality of education provided here.

In early 2007, construction of a new school house began and was completed in August 2008. With the new schoolhouse, the Gene Davis Hall, constructed, the School is able to provide full library service, a computer learning center, a music hall, and six additional classrooms.

All of this could not have been realized without the help of trusted friends who believed in our mission and vision for Provo Christian School. Among those who contributed so much of their time, energy, efforts, and donations, were Princie Harris of Provo Construction, Mark Durliat of the Grace Bay Club Properties, Russell Alwell of Construction Advisory, Anthony Walkin of Conservative Architects, Michael Simmons, Natalie Zaidan of Environmental Arts, Byron G. Davis and Mrs. Dorothy Davis from Forest, Virginia, Liberty University and Lynchburg Christian Academy in Lynchburg, Virginia, Thomas Road Baptist Church and Beulah Baptist Church in Lynchburg, Virginia, and Berean Baptist Church in North Carolina. To name a few.

OUR MISSION

Provo Christian School exists to provide a distinctly Christian education experience. Our goal is to provide a solid academic foundation as well as nurture students to fulfill their spiritual, academic, artistic, social, and physical gifts to positively impact the world for Jesus Christ.

Our objectives are through wisdom and knowledge, spiritual guidance, love, and service, to develop an amazing community of leaders by:

bullet

Establishing Christian truths as a guide for life

bullet

Instilling pure morals in the heart of the students, and

bullet

Maintaining a high academic standard

We believe that all learning should be centered on God’s Word whereby scriptural principles are brought to all academic subjects. Because God gives different gifts and abilities to each child, the school seeks to motivate and nurture each student to find his or her particular calling in the body of Christ, and reach their greatest potential.

Provo Christian School is committed to academic excellence, teaching students to be responsible and diligent in their work as unto the Lord.

Pray for us as we endeavor to,

"Train up a child in the way he should go [so that] when he is old, he will not depart from it." Proverbs 22:6
