The Connecticut Lanyon Family Homeland for 2010 C. Pat Lanyon, Christine, David, Joseph General Email: wisesaver@yahoo.com Missionary, Prayer: wisefavor@gmail.com 47 Long Hill Street; East Hartford, CT 06108 860/ 528-7205 Our FaceBook: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=584282245 Matthew 6:9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. The most significant words of the Lord’s Prayer are indented above. Understanding WHO God is and WHAT He does, and then meditating on His PERSON and WORKS dramatically and positively impacts the remainder of the prayer, and our lives as a result. WHO God is makes seeking His Kingdom and accepting His Will completely different. WHAT He has done makes asking for Daily Needs, and Forgiveness desirable and Resolution in Temptation’s lure strong. Dear Friends and Family, We continue to hear heart-warming reports from you, our friends. THANKS for keeping us informed. Thanks also for praying for our family. We are focusing on God’s Person and Works as we walk the trail of life God has given us. Pat’s ministry has taken this path, and he is thankful for what God has shown after all the many hours in meditation on Matthew 9:9-12. Our Provo trip We enjoyed the 2 weeks in Provo and tried to serve the Lord each day. We stayed at an apartment on the school grounds. They provided our food. We had Bible time in various classes. Pat showed a film every night to try to reach the teenagers. Chris led a Ladies’ meeting which was a blessing to all. When Chris left Provo 22 years ago in 1988, Pastor Rigby’s daughter, Martha Harris, took over the school. God has greatly used her to build the school from K-5 to Grade 6. Folks from the United States helped to build the 4 buildings. They still need teachers and staff for the school. The church is also praying for an experienced pastor. A surprise and blessing came when we heard Pastor Alex Minnott preach our first Sunday in Provo. He was visiting from South Caicos. Chris used to have a Bible time in South Caicos when she passed through there to get to Provo. She usually spent the night with the Minnott family which was always special. More details can be viewed online at Pat’s website: http://aprayernotebook.net/ctlanyons/Provo2010/index.htm ![]() Joseph has been attending Hartford Christian Academy for His Senior Year. He has been a very busy young man who is always helping others. He cut grass all summer for our Pastor, our neighbor, and us. Joseph participates in Soccer and now Basketball teams at HCA. He sets up chairs and tables for Sunday school, youth services, the adult classes, and on Wednesdays, for teens. Joseph leads junior church songs every Sunday. We appreciate his help as we do janitorial work each weekend. David loves entertaining kids, and inviting people he knows to church. He is taking computer training for Microsoft Certification at http://www.e-learningcenter.com/ for at least one year. He also tested and received his Taekwondo blue belt. You may see more at: http://aprayernotebook.net/ctlanyons/david/ (Look for the Taekwondo link at the bottom of the page.) On October 5 this year he ran with the Lanyon men again for the Hartford Half- Marathon. He also ran for the Manchester- 4.7 mile- Road Race in 40:47, about a 10 minute mile pace. David helps more than before with the carpet cleaning which makes wise use of his strength. Mom is still busy as ever, cooking, book-keeping, and cleaning. She encourages ladies of the church with a special need for cleaning in their homes. She teaches Sunday school class, volunteers in the nursery, and sends card to all in the church. She has read the Bible every year for over 40 years now. Chris makes cards for the nursing home services each month. Business did slow down, but God has faithfully provided our needs with new clients. Our carpet cleaning van had problems with the engine. This resulted in a replaced engine ($1,600). It came with a three year unlimited mileage warranty. God has provided an excellent mechanic to install it for a reasonable price. ![]() We visited Grandma Wise in Ohio last August. God spared us from nearly running into a deer after visiting Pastor Rothhaar. Mother was in the van with us and we are thankful she didn’t have a heart attack. We enjoyed the revival at Chris’ sister’s church each night. Since we left, Grandma Wise has needed much prayer for her health: her heart, blocked and twisted bowel, a cyst on her kidney, and a growth in her lungs. We thank God we still have her at 87! We REJOICE that our co-worker, Linda, has made a profession of faith and is now witnessing to other family members. We pray God will bless you during testing times so that we’ll all have a deeper trust in Him and rely more on His Glorious character and nobility! — Love in Christ, Pat, Christine; David & Joseph ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()
