Dear Friends and Family,

Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year to One and All!

Each year Christmas becomes more precious. It has never been more important to make "This choice."

The Blessed Gift to Earth

2012 has brought unto us unbelievable change in America and our economic conditions. It seems like evil prevails and abounds, but we’re determined to keep a proper focus! David faced the same conditions just before he was promoted to his kingdom. We learn some amazing things from: «A Psalm of David.»

Psalm 37

1 Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. 2 For they shall soon be cut down like the grass, and wither as the green herb. 3 Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed. [Feed on His Faithfulness] 4 Delight thyself also in the LORD; and He shall give thee the desires of thine heart. 5 Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in Him; and He shall bring it to pass. 6 And He shall bring forth thy righteousness as the light, and thy judgment as the noonday.

The angels announce the blessed Birth;

The night is aglow from a Star on Earth,

And the shepherds stand in sober awe

Of the One who came as we all saw

Heaven descend and bow so low

To a humble manger containing God below.

Heaven must have cried we know

To see Messiah come so low.

The Son of God exalted a cross

So sinful men could avoid eternal loss.

The Son of Man announced Paradise

To an undeserving thief who thought it nice;

Humbled and broken, he deserved his cross,

Received and forgiven, trusting the King on His cross.

The other made a choice to end with dismay!

These same eternal choices are made each day.

On earth you are daily, really, making ONLY one,

So make your final choice today: believe The Son! -cpl

Our Hope from Psalm 37:

1. Do NOT be anxious over evildoers: v1

2. Do NOT envy the prosperity of evildoers: vv1-2

3. TRUST God to bless your honesty: v3a

4. Dwell in your home with CONTENTMENT: v3b

5. Look to God’s FAITHFULNESS to feed you! v3b

6. Make THE LORD your delight; It will SATISFY! v4

7. BELIEVE God has led you and see it fulfilled! v5

8. You will receive RIGHTEOUSNESS and JUSTICE in exchange for your TRUST. v6

Summer Tag Sale

It was really fun! We picked a Thursday, & a Friday. God blessed with good weather. Joseph was able to sell lots of bikes, Chris sold house furnishings, Pat brought out the vacuum cleaners, and David really carted out computers and parts. Not only did it reclaim space for us, but we made some new friends and even made Christ known through personal witnessing, calendars, tracts, key chains, and give-away’s to people that otherwise did not know us.

Our Friend Walt Grisevich [Figure 3]

Walt is a friend we’ve met at church but his health hinders much church attendance. He is a widower with a jovial heart who loves stamp collecting, his World War 2 heritage as a Marine, and socializing. We have cleaned his house for him; David has fixed and installed computers and done training for him. Though it is a challenge for him at 89, he is learning some essentials and becoming more useful in our technological world. We even took Grandma over to meet him when she came for her birthday celebration this summer thanks to Chris’ sister Vicki.

Westside & Riverside Ministry [Figure 2]

Pat continues his ministry at Nursing Homes. He goes monthly to Riverside Health Care Center in East Hartford in our 23rd year there. A godly wife at church is now helping us monthly and it is bringing new attenders. Her father brings a harmonica and plays favorite hymns. Weekly Pat has been going to Westside Care Center for a Bible study every Tuesday for 9 years. Recently Sally prayed for Christ to save her. Brenda (pictured on the bottom) has found strength in praying. Sharon (center left) loves a computer we’ve given and attends every week with her Prayer Notebook. Long time attendee Ed (right) faithfully read his Bible, though only one eye could do it, and has now passed into heaven on November 16. Thursdays at 1 pm David and his Dad bring laptops for a class and Christian movies in an entrance lobby. Visitors and workers are also able to pass by and see a Christian witness. We praise the Lord for this very needy ministry.

Business [Figure 5,6]

We have a brand new truck mount inside a pre-owned 2012 van that was miraculously available at the manufacturer’s MA plant after a crankshaft on our 20 year old truck sheared on July 30th. It cleans with 50 hotter temperature (faster evaporation and drying), and 150 cfm more (12-13 total vacuum cleaners equiv) suction, so we’ll use less chemical inside the home also. We thank God for His gracious provision.

Vacation Plans Change [figure 7]

Our original plans were to take Joseph back to Pensacola for Labor Day as a FL vacation. We thank God that folks at church helped us by giving so Joseph could fly back to PCC instead.

So... for our vacation, we were at about the same time offered the same time-share on the Cape as 2005. Pat, Chris. and David spent 4 fun-filled days relaxing, biking, beach combing, and visiting on Cape Cod. The highlight for Pat, however, was a day-long visit to the Monument to the Forefathers – an historic site written out of modern American history books. We also took a walking tour of Plymouth seeing many treasures of our American heritage, including outside the Mayflower, and a paddle boat cruise out the dredged Plymouth Harbor.

David is being used of God in his help to Dad in Carpet Cleaning, entertaining kids, and as support to any kids with special needs. He fixes computers or just about any technological device, including xBox’s, Play Stations, laptops, cell-phones and power supplies.

He loves to sell balance bands which he discovered when we did our first Half-Marathon a couple years ago. He ran for the Thanksgiving Manchester Road (4.7 mile) Race held each year. He was kicking and TKD-demonstrating all through the 5k course! A big highlight this year was for him to ‘solo’ man the Balance Beam Event Booth at Youthfest, a church’s annual youth retreat for our region of New England. [See Figure 5] His Taekwondo is still taking him on a journey to his Black-belt which he hopes to get by mid-year 2013. You may see more at: http://aprayernotebook.net/ctlanyons/david/ (Look for the Taekwondo link at the bottom of the page.)

Joseph is in a second Year at Pensacola Christian College

Everyone really misses Joseph because he’s always so kind and helpful at church. He continues to be a busy young man at college, and we’re always praying for grace for him to do well in school. He worked hard all summer on lawns, bikes and church projects. His mechanical hand has fixed (this summer and past years) many bikes enabling him to sell most of his stock at our driveway sale. His college courses included Accounting 2, Speech, British Literature, Old Testament Survey, and Math this semester. Everyone at Truth Baptist Church has only words of praise for him. This makes us more grateful than words can ever express.

Chris is a helpmeet! She cheerfully helps us clean as a family on the week-ends. She regularly helps and encourages 2 elderly ladies who have attended our church but are physically limited now. She continues her famous cards-ministry: purchased and unique home-made cards all given out regularly by hand and mail. She loves home-making, keeping the office accounting, teaching her 1st-2nd grade Sunday School Class, monthly volunteering in the nursery, and laundry duties for both church and business. Pat is in awe of the blessing she brings to our family!

We REJOICE for the blessing God has shown us even though we face greatly distressing times. God is always on His throne! Incredible spiritual good continues to flow out through America, and individuals will receive a sure reward for faithfulness in spite of obvious increases of judgment all around us.

Only one life 'twill soon be past,
ONLY WHAT’S DONE FOR CHRIST WILL LAST!

— Love in HIM, Pat, Christine; David & Joseph Lanyon
